Wales Bonner succeeds Véronique Nichanian, who is stepping down after 37 years with Hermès. Nichanian’s final collection will show in January 2026, while the Spring Summer 2027 line will be developed by the in-house studio. The brand will skip the June fashion week ahead of Wales Bonner’s arrival.
Known for her eponymous label founded in 2014 and her long-standing collaboration with Adidas, Wales Bonner brings a distinct cultural and sartorial perspective to Hermès. Her work often bridges tailoring and identity, drawing from her British-Jamaican heritage and exploring dialogues between luxury, craft, and storytelling.
Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Hermès’s general artistic director, said in a statement that Wales Bonner’s “take on contemporary fashion, craft, and culture” will help shape the future of Hermès menswear, describing her approach as “a confident look on the now.” Wales Bonner expressed gratitude for the appointment, calling it “a dream realised” and “a continuation of a lineage of inspired craftspeople and designers.”
Wales Bonner’s appointment comes amid growing demand for new creative voices in menswear. Hermès’s ready-to-wear and accessories business rose 5.5% to €2.26 billion in the first half of 2025, underscoring the importance of the category within the brand’s portfolio. Her debut in 2027 is expected to be one of the most anticipated moments on the Paris fashion calendar.
