PUMA and Salehe Bembury officially introduce the Velum, marking a new phase in their ongoing collaboration and Bembury’s first lifestyle silhouette created with the brand. The announcement follows the model’s initial presentation during an exclusive Paris Fashion Week event in June 2025, where the Velum appeared as a preview of a broader design direction.

The Velum draws directly from biomorphic design, a recurring influence in Bembury’s work that prioritizes natural forms interpreted through engineered systems. The silhouette introduces an organic formscape that feels sculpted. The shoe reads as a single, continuous object, shaped by curves, contours, and surface tension.

The upper construction centers on a lightweight engineered mesh that supports breathability and flexibility. Over this base, PUMA and Bembury apply a sculptural printed cage that defines the Velum’s visual identity. Bembury describes this structure as 5D-printed, a term that reflects the layered depth and dimensional quality of the cage rather than a conventional manufacturing label. The cage wraps the foot with a tactile presence, creating a surface that feels expressive, structured, and forward-facing.

This sculptural framework gives the Velum its distinctive profile. The printed cage does not serve as decoration but as an integral component of the shoe’s architecture. It shapes the silhouette while reinforcing the sense of motion and organic flow that runs throughout the design. The interplay between the mesh upper and the cage introduces depth without excess, allowing texture to guide perception.

Beneath the upper, the Velum features PUMA’s NITROFOAM, a cushioning system developed to deliver lightweight comfort and responsive support. This technology anchors the shoe in performance innovation, even as the silhouette enters the lifestyle category. The midsole provides rebound and stability underfoot, ensuring that the Velum functions as more than a visual experiment. PUMA positions NITROFOAM as a pinnacle cushioning platform, and its inclusion signals the brand’s intent to align design exploration with wearability.

The Velum launches in a “Rhubarb” colorway, a choice that reflects Bembury’s established approach to color and texture. The tone reinforces the organic quality of the design while giving the shoe a strong visual presence. As a lifestyle model viewed through a performance-driven lens, the Velum occupies a specific position within PUMA’s footwear offering.

The PUMA x Salehe Bembury Velum becomes available on February 7, 2026, through PUMA website, PUMA flagship stores, and selected PUMA stockists.
