Sony Music Vision has revealed the title and world premiere plans for Always Lalisa, a feature-length documentary directed by Sue Kim that follows LISA during a pivotal year away from BLACKPINK. The 97-minute film will make its world premiere in the Gala programme at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from September 10 to 20. The film focuses on the decisions behind that rapid expansion.

NEWS

The documentary centers on a clear deadline. For the first time since childhood, LISA steps away from BLACKPINK for a year of independence. She faces the pressure of launching a solo career, pursuing acting and building a brand while trying to protect a personal life outside public attention. Her eventual return to BLACKPINK gives the film a fixed endpoint and shapes the story around a limited period of intense change.

Always Lalisa follows the Thai singer after her contract period with YG and the creation of her entertainment company, LLOUD, in 2024. That year, LISA filmed the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus in Thailand between February and August. She also launched “Rockstar,” “New Woman” featuring Rosalía and “Moonlit Floor.” Her public appearances included the MTV Video Music Awards, Global Citizen Festival and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Her solo activity accelerated in 2025. LISA launched her solo album while continuing her BLACKPINK touring schedule. She marked the premiere of The White Lotus and her acting debut in the HBO series, appeared at the Met Gala and performed a solo set at Coachella. She also signed with talent agency WME and joined the cast of the action film TYGO alongside Don Lee and Lee Jin-wook.

The following year added several major projects and appearances. LISA performed “Goals” with Brazilian singer Anitta and Nigerian singer Rema during the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The performance made her the first female K-pop artist and the first Thai artist to appear on that stage. She also joined the 2026 Met Gala host committee, becoming the first K-pop artist to take that role, and presented at the 2026 Golden Globes.

Netflix announced two projects featuring her: TYGO and an untitled romantic comedy that follows a Notting Hill-style premise. LISA will star in both projects and serve as an executive producer. Her schedule also includes VIVA LA LISA, a four-show Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The concerts will take place on November 13 and 14 and November 27 and 28. Tickets sold out in under 10 minutes, making LISA the first K-pop artist to secure a Las Vegas residency.

The film places these achievements within the emotional pressure of independence. It examines how LISA handles music, acting, business and public visibility while preparing to return to BLACKPINK. Sony Music Vision produces Always Lalisa in association with RCA Records, Tremolo Productions, Salt Water Productions and LLOUD CO.
