For Spring Summer 2027, Campillo uses memory as a design method. Patricio Campillo presented In Medias Res in New York City, taking the collection title from the Latin phrase for “in the midst of things.” The idea describes a story that begins while events are already in progress, which Campillo connects to the way memories preserve fragments instead of complete records. Photographer Katie Borrazzo captured the backstage atmosphere exclusively for DSCENE Magazine.

That thinking enters the clothes through the fitting process. Campillo cuts, pins and drapes directly on the body, allowing proportion and placement to develop in real time. The finished garments keep traces of those decisions. Shirts drop from the shoulders, jackets reveal layers beneath them, and fabrics gather into irregular folds that remain visible in the final looks.
Mexican identity and charro culture continue to shape the collection. Campillo works with cropped and elongated proportions, layered silhouettes and altered volume, carrying traditional references into contemporary tailoring. Structured pieces appear alongside softer fabrics and fluid construction, while the wider palette and varied materials give each look a different physical quality.
Horsehair returns in new forms across shirts, skirts and jackets. Silk and crepe bring softness and movement, while sculptural onyx adds weight. Campillo also introduces a biologically derived polymer produced by bacteria, placing a material formed through a living process within the same collection as established textiles and stone.

Jewelry and accessories extend the use of silver and onyx. These elements add defined surfaces and solid forms alongside garments shaped through draping, folding and shifting volume.
