adidas introduces a new Maroon colorway of the F50 Formotion, continuing the expansion of its football-inspired lifestyle sneaker lineup. The latest edition explores a darker palette, combining a deep maroon upper with an off-white molded midsole. Following several releases that emphasized metallic finishes and expressive colors, the new design brings attention to the silhouette’s construction, technical elements and exaggerated proportions.

The F50 Formotion made its debut earlier this summer through adidas Originals’ collaboration with SP5DER, the streetwear label associated with Young Thug. The partnership introduced the silhouette through a chrome-coated design that drew from early 2000s football footwear and visible performance technology. Its combination of athletic references and sculptural hardware established the foundation for subsequent colorways.

The model takes inspiration from the adidas Adizero F50 III football boot, translating recognizable design elements into a contemporary lifestyle sneaker. Its upper recalls the shape and technical appearance of football footwear, while the Formotion sole introduces a distinctive mechanical structure beneath the shoe. This combination connects the F50’s athletic origins with the visual direction of adidas Originals’ current footwear releases.
The Maroon edition shifts attention toward the relationship between the upper and sole. Dark coloring covers the top section of the sneaker, creating a concentrated visual effect across its layered construction. Beneath it, the light-colored molded midsole introduces a defined separation between the two sections. The contrast emphasizes the sole’s complex form and gives the silhouette a distinctive appearance.

The sneaker retains the angular Three Stripes branding at the heel, maintaining an important visual connection to adidas. Its futuristic hardware also remains prominent, with the molded sole continuing to play a central role in the overall design.
The shoe’s visible technology remains a defining feature. Formotion technology supports natural movement, while the molded construction contributes to the sneaker’s technical appearance. The model demonstrates how adidas translates elements associated with performance footwear into designs intended for everyday use.

Earlier editions of the F50 Formotion explored reflective surfaces, chrome finishes and vivid color combinations. The Maroon version introduces a different treatment of the same design, allowing the technical construction to take greater prominence. Its darker upper draws attention to the silhouette’s contours, while the off-white midsole emphasizes the shape of its molded components.
