Send Out Save the Date Cards
If you already have a pretty good idea of when you’ll be tying the knot you can share the good news with friends and family by sending out save the date cards in the mail. Everyone will be so thrilled when they receive the card in the mail. They can be designed and customized to say whatever you want. You can add a photo of you and your fiance, incorporate your wedding colors, or go with a particular theme to give your loved ones a sneak peek at what to expect at the wedding.
Create a Social Media Post
Social media is a platform everyone uses to stay connected to friends and family. If the majority of your loved ones has a social media account, why not share the news on your page? Come up with a creative post. You can simply update your status and see who notices or write a nice paragraph about how you guys met, how you feel about your significant other, and, of course, the news of your upcoming wedding.
Design Shirts
If you want to share the news with friends, family, and whoever else you pass by a creative idea would be to design t-shirts. You can get shirts customized with just about anything you want on them. Cute phrases like, “The future Mrs”, “He Proposed… and I said Yes”, or “We’re Getting Hitched” can be all you need to let it be known that you’re committing the rest of your lives to each other. If you want to get a bit more creative, you can upload a photo of the two of you and have it printed on the t-shirts as well.
Upload a Video
Videos are great for sharing over social media platforms and they help to add a bit more personality to your engagement announcement. Pull out your smartphone or camera and get to recording. Perhaps your significant other wanted to share the news with family and recorded the engagement as it happened, you can simply edit and upload the video to social media and share the link for everyone to see. If not, you guys can simply record a quick video announcing that you’re getting hitched and when the big day is likely to go down.
Share at a Family Gathering
If you can hold in your excitement until the next time that you and your friends and family are gathered together, you can share your news with everyone around. You can wait for everyone to arrive and simply blurt it out or be a bit more discreet. Something as simple as talking while using a lot of hand movements to see who notices the rock on your finger can do the trick.
Involve the Kids or Pets
If you guys have children or pets, it can be a lot of fun to involve them in your engagement announcement. You can record your kids telling everyone that mommy and daddy are getting married, get them customized t-shirts with a cute phrase, or take a family photo with everyone smiling and pointing at the engagement ring or holding up signs about your engagement.
Throw a Party
A traditional but fun way to share the news about your upcoming wedding is to throw a party. It doesn’t have to be over the top (of course, you want to save as much as you can for the actual wedding). A simple dinner at home or at your favorite restaurant is really all you need. Send out invitations (without giving away the details of what the party is for), select a venue, choose a menu, create a funky playlist full of your favorite love songs, and invite everyone you wish to share the news with. Once everyone arrives, you guys can make the announcement and give a little speech to let them know exactly how elated you are about your upcoming wedding.
Getting engaged is a milestone in a person’s life that is worth celebrating. As this is likely news that you don’t want to keep to yourself, think outside of the box to find a way to share this exciting time with others. Whether you want to keep it simple with save the date cards or a social media post or you want to go all out with a video or party, those closest to you will be glad they were there to share in this special time in your life.
