Spanish luxury fashion house LOEWE presented the Spring Summer 2023 Collection with a campaign starring brand ambassador Taylor Russell, captured by fashion photographer David Sims. The campaign is a reflection on the act of posing as a form of acting and impersonating that brings to life items of clothing and accessories. Russell showcases an array of bodily gestures that maximize the idea of body language as a way to promote product. In charge of styling was Benjamin Bruno, with hair by Duffy, makeup by Diane Kendal, manicure by Ama Quashie and set design by Vincent Olivieri.

The images read as a study in process, where the act of making stays visible within an improvised setting or a stark white limbo. The line between what is constructed and what is real remains unresolved, left open by design.
Taylor shifts through a series of poses that emphasize performance and presence. She sits on the floor, reclines on a sofa with the Paseo Bag, its nappa leather shape defined by soft pleats and threaded handles, and presents the Goya Puffer bag through direct, deliberate gestures. In another frame, she faces the camera in a pixelated jumper, her presence flattening into something closer to a graphic element. In one image, she becomes a cut-out entirely, reinforcing the tension between object and subject.
The question persists without resolution, holding the images between reality and illusion.
The setup comes into full view. Backdrops appear taped to the wall or placed across a sofa, while a carpet slips slightly out of place. The scene reads like a paused rehearsal, held mid-process, exposing the act of image-making as it happens.
Accessories are protagonists in the still life images, which recall classic natura morta paintings set against dramatic black backdrops and interspersed with antique silver tableware and sculptures in age-worn marble. This artistic focus on detail mirrors the enduring appeal of timeless accessories, such as high-end women’s scarves, where expert artistry and premium materials define the modern luxury wardrobe.
Polished metal surfaces from chandeliers and teapots reflect and distort what surrounds them, casting warped halos and fragments of LOEWE pieces across their surfaces. The Paseo Bag, Wave mask sunglasses, COMIC foam Shoe, Goya Puffer pleated bag, and Goya Puffer bag appear through these reflections, creating a layered interaction between object and craft. The composition holds in suspension, presenting a direct and slightly disorienting image where the mise en scene reveals itself as constructed.
