Somewhere over the rainbow, dreams become reality.
Let us dream ourselves to other places,
we dance over rainbows into our fantasy world.
Places full of colour and positive energy,
where we feel safe and secure.
Places of peaceful harmony and boundless freedom,
where we find ourselves.
Finally being human again,
surrounded by clouds of coloured cotton wool.
Somewhere over the rainbow,
where we will meet,
Dreams become realities.’
Marcel Ostertag – ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’

With the presentation of his Spring Summer 2024 collection titled ‘Somewhere over the rainbow‘, German designer Marcel Ostertag invites his audience to guide him on an imaginary journey to their favourite dream places. Therefore he uses the rainbow as a metaphor between reality and the dream world. Furthermore he wants to encourage his audience to leave negative experiences and thoughts behind, and make a brand new start into a positive future full of bright, fresh, new memories. Together the guests enter the rainbow and travel to colourful places full of love, happiness, peace and respect.

SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS

The whole line can be interpreted as an ode to enjoy the life you are living to the fullest and go confidently in the direction of your dreams. The bright, eye-popping colour choice of this range underlines this blithe mood. As humans we have the chance to rejoice in the beautiful things life has to offer, such as music, art, literature and fashion. So why not leaving the negative thoughts behind and dare to make a brand new start?

For Marcel Ostertag it is important to include every generation and to examine the inner life of society.
“Current events often weigh heavy on the souls of my wearers. Our aim is therefore to breathe joie de vivre into them with radiant collection pieces and to give them a good feeling and security despite some bad news,” states the designer.

When observing his model choice, you will notice anew the designer wants to include everybody and rejoice everyone with his bold, cheerful creations. Thus, he presents us a diverse cast of various generations. With this choice he wants to express his fashion does not exclude anyone.

Print-wise, this range is focused on three spectacular, particularly colourful pattern: The first design takes its inspiration from mosaic stones. It can be found on oversized blazers, overlong bootcut-trousers and caftans. The second one pictures imposing flower formations on a rich pink background. When it comes to their colour choice, the prints are kept in off-white, rosé, orange and sunshine yellow. Suits, swingy dresses and blouses bring this colour spectacle to life. The third print is referring to the collections’ topic: it is an abstract combination of stripes and can be therefore interpreted as Marcel Ostertag’s representation of a rainbow. This design is used on trench coats, all-over blouses, trouser combinations and bulky summer dresses. These bright creations are harmoniously united with a selection of enchanting couture pieces embroided by hand in Berlin.

Sparkling elements give numerous outfits a highly sophisticated approach. The first runway looks start with a highly elegant colour choice consisting of soft tones such as rose, peach pink, magenta and cream white. Additionally, a bold range of the most colourful hues is applied: vivid yellow, orange, azure, violet, scarlet, gold and red-orange. We name it, this collection contains it all! Especially the looks that are kept all in orange radiate pure joy of life.

When observing the silhouettes of this line, countless ’70s and ’80s inspired shapes can be noticed. That underlines the timeless character of this range.

In addition to that, mini bells on sequins in shades of cream make the models hearable when moving. That way his fashion becomes an acoustic experience as well. Complementary to these accessories, fringes made of rhinestones and glitter elements line the seams of the skirts and tops.
A very glamorous, sophisticated make-up with focus on glamorous eyes rounds off these lavish looks. The hair is mainly worn open and with middle parting, sparkling barretts are worn on both sides. Wet looks are visible as well. You can easily create these looks yourself on any summer day. Long earrings underline the elegant flair of the looks. They are once more created in a collaboration with Bijou Brigitte. What else must not be missing in summertime? Sunglasses, of course. However this line also contains glasses that can be worn daily. They are once more made in cooperation with Mister Spex. One of his cooperation partners is as well Peter Hahn and therefore a second collection named ‘Marcel Ostertag x Peter Hahn‘, is shown as well.
