On Sunday, 11th February, Emma Gage‘s Melke presented its Fall Winter 2024 collection at New York Fashion Week and our photographer Katie Borrazzo was there to capture exclusive backstage moments for DSCENE Magazine, offering a unique glimpse into the preparation and excitement that defines a Melke show. This season, Melke’s offering, titled “The Heist,” marks a significant milestone in the brand’s fashion journey, showcasing Emma Gage’s ability to blend growth with the essence of Melke’s DNA.
Melke has consistently charmed the fashion community over the last few seasons, and their current NYFW collection is undoubtedly the strongest presentation yet. This collection distinguishes itself with evident leaps of growth while maintaining the unique Melke DNA through oversized bows, strategic fringe placement, and meticulous appliqué work. The brand’s latest showcase is a celebration of elevated design, structure, and polish that has become synonymous with Melke’s evolving aesthetic.
“The Heist,” Melke’s NYFW Autumn/Winter 2024 collection, explores the beloved claymation series Wallace and Gromit, drawing inspiration from the whimsical and mischievous adventures of the iconic duo. Reflecting Melke’s signature carefree joy and childlike wonder, “The Heist” embodies the spirit of Wallace and Gromit’s escapades—from their lunar cheese expeditions to battling the gigantic Were-Rabbit. The collection captures the essence of these tales, not just in the adventurous spirit, but also in the return to the comfort of home for a hot cup of tea and a slice of cheese, albeit with a playful nod to the theme of thievery.
Through “The Heist,” Melke invites us into a world where nostalgia and innovation converge, creating a narrative that is both familiar and fresh. The collection leverages the brand’s strengths in design elements like oversized bows and appliqué, while also pushing boundaries with its thematic inspiration and refined execution. This season’s presentation shows Emma Gage’s visionary approach to fashion, where the whimsy of childhood memories is translated into wearable art that speaks to the modern consumer’s desire for uniqueness and storytelling in their wardrobe.
