Drawing inspiration from the sailing club and boat launch near the designers’ studio in Deptford, the collection captures the essence of everyday rituals and communal connections found along the waterfront. This setting becomes a metaphorical backdrop for self-discovery and courage, echoing the brand’s philosophy of daring to embrace one’s true self.
The garments within the collection reflect this theme of exploration and self-expression through bold silhouettes and intricate detailing. Mariner’s nets are reimagined as hand-crocheted panels adorning midi-dresses, while vintage mainsail designs inspire screen-printed motifs on denim and sweatshirts. Sailor collars and oversized heart charms juxtapose nautical elements with feminine touches, creating a unique fusion of uniformity and tenderness.
However, amidst the celebration of exploration and bravery, there is also a poignant narrative of longing and love lost. The collection pays homage to wartime weddings, evoking the demure glamour of ceremonies hastily arranged before military deployment during World War II.
