The Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” is set to make a highly anticipated return in the Fall Winter season of 2025. Originally released in 1996, this iconic colorway has been worn by Michael Jordan during the Chicago Bulls’ 1996-1997 championship season. The shoe’s design, featuring a predominantly white leather upper with black accents on the mudguard, outsole, and heel, quickly became a favorite among sneaker enthusiasts and basketball fans alike.

The nickname “Taxi” comes from the yellow details on the carbon fiber shank plate and gold lace eyelets, which evoke the imagery of New York City’s yellow taxis. This subtle nod to the bustling city added a unique character to the sneaker, making it a standout. The black Jumpman logo on the tongue and the bold “23” on the heel further enhance the shoe’s look. Originally designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 12 is notable for being the first in Jordan’s signature series to incorporate Zoom Air cushioning, providing extra comfort and responsiveness.

SNEAKERS

The 2025 release of the Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” aims to stay true to the original design, offering fans an authentic experience reminiscent of its first launch. Reports suggest that the sneaker will come with packaging similar to the original, which adds a layer of nostalgia and collectible appeal for long-time fans of the brand.

Historically, the “Taxi” has seen a few retros, including its appearance in the 2008 Countdown Pack alongside the “Bred” Air Jordan 11. Its standalone return in 2013 further fueled its popularity, cementing its status as a must-have item in the sneaker community. This year, the brand also released the “Taxi Flip” model that introduced vibrant Gym Red accents to the traditional White and Black scheme. The Taxi 2025 version is expected to retail for approximately $215 and will be available in full family sizing, ensuring that both new and old fans can partake in the legacy.
