The AREA Spring Summer 25 show, at New York Fashion Week, marked the brand’s 10th anniversary. Photographer Katie Borrazzo captured backstage moments at the AREA Spring Summer 25 show, exclusively for DSCENE Magazine. Creative Director Piotrek Panszczyk embraced the theme of individuality through the use of symbolic details like thumbprints, uniforms, and nameplates, emphasizing the tension between conformity and self-expression. The show opened with Cuban-heeled boots and sharply tailored military-inspired suits, setting the tone for a collection that combined structured elements with deeply personal touches.

Fringe was a standout feature throughout the collection, playing a central role rather than serving as an accent. The “spaghetti” fringe technique, achieved by slicing jersey fabric into long strips. Dresses crafted entirely from fringe had a dynamic sense of movement, while fringe belts and garters further showed the brand’s approach to texture. This tactile experimentation, combined with laser-cut motifs like hands reimagined as feathers, added layers of depth and dimension to the collection.
AREA’s Spring Summer 2025 collection also took a bold step into political commentary, using the fashion pieces as a platform for advocacy. In collaboration with Tinder, the brand introduced pieces like a black T-shirt with red handprints positioned over the stomach, referencing the “Bans Off Our Bodies” slogan in support of reproductive rights.
