Sportswear brand Adidas has teamed up with Riverdale star Camila Mendes, bringing the actress, producer, and entrepreneur into its running family. Known for her work on screen and her personal approach to fitness, Mendes is set to front Adidas’ newest campaigns, helping to redefine running as an experience that goes beyond competition. The partnership focuses on making running more accessible, emphasizing self-care, consistency, and the sense of community that the sport can provide.
Patrick Nava, Vice President of Product for Running & Credibility Sports at Adidas Running, expressed confidence in Mendes as an ambassador, noting her candid approach to fitness and her ability to connect with people on a personal level. He explained that Adidas values runners with different backgrounds and experiences, and Mendes’ openness about her evolving relationship with running made her a natural fit.
Mendes’ first campaign with Adidas introduces the Supernova Rise 2, a running shoe engineered for comfort. The updated model is lighter than the previous version and incorporates a redesigned heel collar to improve support during daily runs. A breathable mesh upper enhances airflow, while the cushioned midsole helps absorb impact, making it a practical option for runners at any level. The shoe is available in multiple colorways, with the first two – Orbit Grey and Wonder Quartz – launching in March 2025.

Reflecting on her own fitness routine, Mendes shared that running wasn’t always a major part of her workouts until she trained for a recent role. While she’s always been active, she admitted that developing a consistent relationship with running came with its challenges. “It’s okay to have a complicated relationship with running – many people do,” she said. She hopes her involvement in the campaign will resonate with those who feel similarly, encouraging them to approach running in their own way.

The campaign aims to take a fresh approach, moving away from traditional performance messaging and instead focusing on personal motivation. Mendes described the collaboration as a reflection of her own fitness journey, shaped by humor, honesty, and self-discovery. She emphasized that Adidas took the time to understand her perspective, making the partnership feel authentic rather than just another endorsement.

The Supernova Rise 2 will be available beginning March 7, 2025, at Adidas.com and select retailers for $140. With Mendes as the face of the campaign, Adidas continues to push for a more inclusive approach to running, one that welcomes every type of runner, regardless of speed or experience.
