Dolce&Gabbana‘s FW25 collection, showcased at Milan Fashion Week, captured the essence of the modern “cool girl.” This season, the iconic Italian fashion house opted for a fresh and contemporary approach, focusing on the art of styling rather than emphasizing individual pieces. The collection, titled “Cool Girl,” featured a harmonious combination of natural glamour and effortless chic, speaking directly to today’s youth and their unique approach to fashion.

Divided into two distinct sections, the collection explored the spheres of sophisticated outerwear and daring eveningwear. The outerwear maintained a semblance of the traditional Dolce&Gabbana aesthetic but was presented in simplified, contemporary versions that felt both accessible and immediate. In contrast, the eveningwear pushed boundaries with its sensuality, featuring an array of transparent, short pieces crafted from tulle and suggestive of lingerie.

The runway show itself was a theatrical spectacle that blurred the lines between a high-fashion presentation and an outdoor party. Opening with a film featuring top Italian model Vittoria Ceretti navigating the streets of New York, the show seamlessly transitioned into live action, where models adorned in jewel dresses and street-smart attire strode confidently. These early looks drew from the 1920s, incorporating modern materials like denim and leather with traditional embellishments such as lace and Swarovski crystals, achieving a balance of elegance and street cool.

The event attracted an array of celebrities in the front row, from Naomi Campbell to Michele Morrone, underscoring the collection’s wide appeal. The location of the show, Metropol, a multi-functional space that once served as a cinema in the 1940s, was itself a statement piece. Recently renovated, Metropol’s façade features twisted steel blades that offer a kinetic visual experience, enhancing the overall spectacle of the show.

With crowds gathering outside the venue and a show that invited engagement from a broad audience, Dolce&Gabbana posed an important question about the future of high fashion: should it continue to uphold its exclusive barriers, or should it embrace more immersive, inclusive approaches? This collection, with its dual commitment to heritage and innovation, provided a compelling argument for the latter, suggesting that the future of fashion lies in its ability to adapt and resonate with the dynamic spirit of the youth today.
