Salehe Bembury has given sneaker fans another look at his ongoing work with New Balance, this time previewing a second colorway of the 1000, the tech-heavy silhouette from the early 2000s that he’s been reintroducing with fresh energy. Known for his adventurous palettes and tactile design language, Bembury once again puts his stamp on the retro runner with a color story that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking.

This new iteration applies a gradient across the upper, fading from cool blue at the toe box into vibrant pinks and reds through the midfoot and heel. The bold fade is balanced by orange detailing on the midsole and lace loops, while off-white hits at the tongue and forefoot soften the look. The layered construction of the 1000 lends itself to the blend, giving the sneaker a sculptural presence that ties back to Bembury’s signature outdoor-inspired approach.

The gradient design is expected to drop alongside the previously teased “Fog Be The Cloud” edition, a teal-based colorway that received its first preview earlier this summer. Together, the two pairs highlight different sides of the same narrative: one understated, the other expressive. Both tap into the 1000’s roots in early-aughts running tech, reworked with a contemporary lens.
While official release information has not been announced, the Bembury x New Balance 1000 is likely to retail in the $150 USD range and land before the year’s end. The shoes are expected to release through Bembury’s own channels, New Balance’s site, and select global retailers.
