Blumarine Spring Summer 2026 collection, the second under Creative Director David Koma, explores dark romanticism through a dialogue between light and shadow. Koma reimagines the house’s classic romanticism with a gothic twist, inspired by Gothic literature and haunting love stories. The collection features a donna fatale, where grace collides with gloom, and fragility meets provocation. Photographer Sohom Das captured the behind-the-scenes atmosphere at Blumarine’s SS26 show exclusively for DSCENE Magazine.
The butterfly, a longtime Blumarine symbol, returns as a central motif, joined by the dragonfly to evoke nocturnal mystery. These creatures appear embroidered on tulle tops, georgette minis, and plumetis gowns, or as macramé appliqué across fabrics. Dresses shift from butterfly prints to leopard patterns, and long ruffle gowns carry camouflage graphics that blur sweetness into menace. Koma’s use of flou gives life to tiered georgette, taffeta, and lace, creating silhouettes that move between softness and sculptural tension.
Eveningwear presents heightened drama, with black gowns featuring beaded insect-inspired bodices and tulle skirts adorned with butterfly, dragonfly, and spider motifs. Jackets with unexpected ruffled panels and skinny trousers with butterfly lace offer contrast. Cargo trousers and shearling-trimmed jackets introduce utility into the otherwise fantastical collection.
Accessories sharpen the gothic edge, with rhinestone-cross chokers, dragonfly breastplates, and jewelry that blurs the line between adornment and armor. The bags, including the pierced messenger and butterfly backpacks, further extend the insect theme, while shoes mix precision and play with satin stilettos and shearling-trimmed boots.
