Charli XCX has never been one to stay within the boundaries of a single genre. Now, the artist who defined a generation of experimental pop is stepping into film, not as a cameo or collaborator, but as a creator. Her debut feature with A24, titled The Moment, will mark the first release under her production company, Studio365. Based on her own original concept, the project promises to explore the glamour and chaos of stardom through a distinctly Charli lens.
According to Variety, The Moment follows a rising pop star as she prepares for her arena tour debut while navigating the mounting pressures of fame and the industry machine behind it. The premise, both self-aware and cinematic, reflects Charli’s ongoing fascination with performance and identity, themes that have long underscored her music and visual storytelling.
Behind the camera, Charli reunites with Glaswegian photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, who will make his feature directorial debut. The two previously worked together on her Brat-era visuals, including the “360” and “Guess” music videos, both known for their hyperreal energy and digital experimentation. Zamiri co-wrote the screenplay with culture writer Bertie Brandes, whose work in i-D, Dazed, and Vice often dissects internet-age celebrity and female self-presentation, a fitting pairing for a film about pop’s performative realities.
The film’s score will be composed by Charli’s longtime collaborator A.G. Cook, the producer and visionary behind much of her sound since the early Pop 2 days. Together, they’ve built a sonic universe that redefined what pop could sound like, metallic, euphoric, and emotionally raw. Cook’s involvement ensures that The Moment will feel as sonically charged as it is visually bold.

In true Charli fashion, the cast announcement arrived as a flash of light and chaos, a strobe-filled video teaser shared on Instagram, closing with the line: “I just want this moment to last forever.” The lineup features an impressive mix of rising stars and cultural icons, including Alexander Skarsgård, Rachel Sennott, Kate Berlant, Rish Shah, Isaac Cole Powell, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Hailey Benton Gates, Trew Mullen, Shygirl, and A.G. Cook himself. The film also features a surprise addition: Kylie Jenner, making her official acting debut.
While this is her first time leading a major feature, Charli is no stranger to Hollywood sets. Her upcoming acting roles include Faces of Death with Barbie Ferreira, Sacrifice directed by Romain Gavras, and 100 Nights of Hero alongside Nicholas Galitzine and Emma Corrin. She also stars in Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist, opposite Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman, and appears in Benito Skinner’s Amazon Prime series Overcompensating.
Set to premiere in 2026, The Moment feels like the natural next step for an artist whose career has always lived on the edge of reinvention. If Charli XCX has proven anything, it’s that she doesn’t just follow cultural shifts, she creates them.
