Nike x Stranger Things Unveil Dunk Low Inspired by Upside Down

Aged midsoles and tonal laces give the sneakers a relic-like feel rooted in the show’s nostalgic setting.

Nike continues its collaboration with Stranger Things, unveiling the long-awaited Dunk Low “Phantom/Midnight Navy” ahead of the show’s upcoming fifth season. The new release builds on the nostalgic energy of the series, bringing a darker, more textured design that mirrors the eerie atmosphere of Hawkins and the Upside Down.

The “Phantom/Midnight Navy” pair features a cracked leather upper that evokes the decayed aesthetic of the show’s alternate world. Inverted Nike logos appear across the tongue, insole, and heel, a direct nod to the show’s mirrored dimension. Subtle handwritten callouts beneath the eyestays add to the visual storytelling, referencing the series’ mysterious undertones. The pre-yellowed midsole, paired with worn detailing, gives the sneaker an aged, archival look, a design choice that feels pulled from the world of Stranger Things itself.

The “Phantom/Midnight Navy” edition channels a worn-in energy through its off-white cracked leather panels and deep navy overlays. The design maintains balance between precision and nostalgia, drawing attention through texture rather than color contrast. Matching laces and tonal swooshes complete the upper.

This release arrives alongside a second pair in “Black/Speed Red–Varsity Red–Anthracite,” which will follow at a later date. Though its debut remains unconfirmed, the darker version promises to carry the same attention to material and theme.

Its counterpart in “Black/Speed Red–Varsity Red–Anthracite” will launch later, continuing the collaboration’s story and linking the world of sport to the eerie atmosphere of the Upside Down.
