Vaquera and Nike introduce their reinterpretation of the Air Max Dn8, a project built on the latest chapter of Dynamic Air technology. Nike launched the Dn8 on December 8, giving the silhouette a platform for experimentation through collaborations. Vaquera approaches the model with its trademark sense of humor and fashion play, shaping the shoe into a piece that carries the label’s focus on romance and visual exaggeration.

The design covers the upper with kiss marks, a direct reference to Vaquera’s interest in theatrical graphics and gestures. Co-founder Patric DiCaprio describes romance as a defining code within the label and explains that the team used this theme to guide the rework. The graphic treatment gives the Dn8 a playful tone while keeping the structure ready for daily wear. Dynamic Air technology supports the platform, creating a steady base under the shoe’s soft exterior design.

Vaquera situates this collaboration within its ongoing practice of fashion “fan fiction,” a term Bryn Taubensee and Patric DiCaprio use to describe the brand’s approach. Vaquera draws from homage and satire at the same time, creating a style that feels both referential and self-aware. The Air Max Dn8 becomes a surface for that language, giving the label room to experiment with a familiar Nike form while retaining the original performance focus of the model.

The brand gained attention through viral pieces such as pillow dresses and later received support from Dover Street Market’s development arm in Paris. The label eventually secured a place on the Paris Fashion Week calendar, where its collections explore contradiction, theatricality, and cultural commentary.
The Nike x Vaquera Air Max Dn8 is now available through Vaquera’s website, Dover Street Market, Nike.com, SNKRS, and selected retailers.
