adidas introduces the Hyperboost Edge, a new lightweight super-trainer designed for road running. The shoe combines three key technologies: a Hyperboost Pro midsole, a PRIMEWEAVE upper, and a LIGHTTRAXION outsole. These elements shape a running shoe built to deliver comfort and responsiveness throughout each stride.

The Hyperboost Edge represents the first lightweight non-plated super-trainer developed by adidas. Designers removed plates and stiffening components to allow the shoe to work naturally with the runner’s gait cycle. The construction supports a lightweight ride that responds to the body’s movement. The shoe weighs 255 grams while maintaining cushioning and energy return.

The central component of the design is the Hyperboost Pro foam. This new midsole material forms the core of the running experience and defines the structure of the shoe. The foam provides cushioning across the entire foot and responds to impact during training runs. adidas developed the formulation using technologies previously applied in elite racing midsoles.
The Hyperboost Edge features a 45-millimeter rearfoot stack height combined with a 6-millimeter drop. adidas developed the foam using laboratory testing and research carried out with the University of Cologne. The study involved 60 runners who compared Hyperboost Edge with the footwear they currently use. Results from the research showed strong preference for the new shoe across several performance measures. Seventy-three percent of participants preferred the energy return delivered by the Hyperboost Edge. Seventy-seven percent reported softer cushioning, while more than half selected the shoe as more comfortable overall. A majority also reported that the shoe delivered a better running experience.

The upper introduces a PRIMEWEAVE construction designed to provide a lightweight structure with a soft feel. The woven material supports a secure fit while maintaining flexibility during movement. adidas integrated heel pods within the design to provide targeted cushioning around the heel. These components add stability and improve step-in comfort. The upper uses soft materials and a padded heel structure intended to support runners throughout training sessions.
The outsole uses LIGHTTRAXION, a lightweight full-length material designed to provide traction from heel to toe. adidas drew inspiration from its racing footwear while developing the outsole construction. The design sits on a thinner base that reduces overall weight while maintaining grip across varied running conditions. This structure carries elements associated with the Adizero running line into a shoe developed for everyday training.

Hyperboost Edge also introduces a new design direction for adidas Running footwear. The silhouette centers attention on the midsole through an inflated structure inspired by industrial forms. For the first time in adidas running shoes, the three stripes appear directly on the stacked midsole. This placement draws attention to the Hyperboost Pro technology beneath the foot. The upper follows a clean design approach that removes visible detailing. Hidden eyelets and bonded elements contribute to a streamlined appearance.
Patrick Nava, general manager of adidas Running, described the project as a new direction for the category. He explained that the design team focused on three core elements: cushioning, energy, and lightness. The Hyperboost Edge launches in a red colorway priced at $200. The shoe becomes available on March 17 through adidas stores and website. adidas plans additional releases starting May 1, when new colorways and product drops will expand the Hyperboost Edge lineup.
