Alysa Liu has joined Louis Vuitton as a brand ambassador, bringing one of figure skating’s most distinctive young voices into the French house’s growing circle of athletes. The 20-year-old California athlete arrives at Louis Vuitton after a defining year on the ice. At the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Liu won individual and team gold, becoming the first American women’s singles champion since Sarah Hughes in 2002. Her competitive record already placed her among the sport’s most technically ambitious skaters, and her new role with Louis Vuitton now moves her presence further into fashion.

Liu built her reputation early as a skating wunderkind. She became the first woman to land a triple axel and a quadruple jump in one program, a technical achievement that marked her as one of the sport’s most daring competitors. She announced her retirement from figure skating at 16, then returned two years later with a new team and a different attitude. Since that comeback, she has brought sharper individuality to the rink, shaping her public image through performance, styling, and a clear sense of personal expression. Her striped hair has become one of her most recognizable details, adding a clear visual signature to the confidence she brings on and off the ice.

Nicolas Ghesquière, artistic director of women’s collections at Louis Vuitton, praised Liu’s confidence and creative energy in the announcement. “Alysa Liu embodies the modern Louis Vuitton woman – confident, creative, and utterly fearless. Her dynamic energy and individuality resonate with the house’s spirit, and she inspires us all to embrace audacity in every form,” he said.
Liu’s connection with Louis Vuitton appeared clearly at the Louis Vuitton Women Fall Winter 2026 show, where she wore the Brown Speedy Patch Denim jacket and jeans set with the Squire East West handbag in Monogram canvas. She also attended the 2026 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a Louis Vuitton look, pairing a black minidress embroidered with gunmetal pearls with black satin pumps. These appearances placed her personal style directly within the house’s current visual language, before the announcement of her ambassador role.

“Stepping into this new chapter as a Louis Vuitton ambassador is an honor and a privilege, especially for a figure skater to be recognized in this way, and I take so much pride in that,” Liu said. “As a figure skater, I’m an athlete, I train hard, I skate fast, but when I’m performing, I want to show you how soft I can be. As a Louis Vuitton Ambassador, I get to show you my style, strength, and softness because I know that luxury is in the details, and the same goes for choreographing a program and designing a collection. Life is all about connection, and Louis Vuitton has made me feel included. It’s a really empowering feeling to be part of something so artistic.”
