Nike introduces the LeBron XXIII Hardwood Classics in Game Royal and Safety Orange, linking LeBron James’s Ohio origins with the latest chapter of his signature footwear series. The colorway recalls Akron, James’s first professional stop in Cleveland and the blue and orange throwback uniforms from his early playing years. Nike connects the launch to a career covering 23 NBA seasons and counting, along with the number that has followed him from Cleveland to the present.
SNEAKERS
Nike organizes the LeBron XXIII collection around 23 individual stories from James’s career. The company gives each story a separate colorway that refers to a specific achievement, period or personal chapter. This version focuses on Ohio and the beginning of his professional history, bringing his hometown and original NBA team into the same design.

Game Royal and Safety Orange define the palette. Nike splits the Cleveland Cavaliers inspired palette between the two shoes, creating a mismatched look based on the team’s uniforms from the 1980s and 1990s. Game Royal leather covers the left shoe, joined by a Safety Orange interior, and the right shoe reverses those colors through an orange upper and blue lining. The LeBron XXIII structure then supplies the technical foundation for current basketball demands.
The shoe uses a full length ZoomX drop in midsole, marking the first full length ZoomX application in LeBron’s signature line. Nike developed the cushioning to provide responsive bounce during jumps, acceleration and repeated court activity. The foam supports the lightweight response that defines the LeBron XXIII platform and helps athletes generate lift during attacks toward the basket.

A carbon fiber plate works with the ZoomX midsole to support the foot during rapid cuts and sudden bursts of speed. Nike also incorporates its Crown Containment System, a LeBron specific element that functions as a visual signature and a structural component. The crown form helps secure the foot during takeoffs, landings, defensive sequences and changes in direction.
Underfoot, a sticky multidirectional traction pattern supports grip during lateral action, quick stops and drives toward the basket. Nike pairs that outsole with an engineered jacquard upper and a soft bootie lining. The upper adds support and the lining creates a close, sock like fit around the foot. Together, these elements address explosive jumping, sharp cuts and physical play.

Nike also developed dedicated packaging for the LeBron XXIII series. Three boxes with crown forms represent three periods of his career: “The Chosen 1 Arrives” from 2002 to 2010, “Taking the Throne” from 2010 to 2018 and “Long Live the King” from 2018 onward. Each box includes a booklet covering all 23 stories in the collection. Nike also gives each colorway a charm that matches its heel symbol.
The LeBron XXIII Hardwood Classics is scheduled the for August 7 launch at a retail price of $210.
