JISOO continues her relationship with Self-Portrait through Portraits of a Screen Star, a four-part series of short films that places the BLACKPINK member in four distinct cinematic roles. The London fashion house approaches the project through imagined audition tapes, giving JISOO the opportunity to explore different characters through performance and clothing.

Oliver Hadlee Pearch shot the series in Seoul, framing each installment around a separate persona. Self-Portrait founder and creative director Han Chong worked closely with JISOO on the project, developing wardrobes that helped define the individual roles and their personalities.
The first film, The Enigma, introduces JISOO as a curious and whimsical character with a mischievous side. She wears pieces from Self-Portrait’s latest collection, including a grey button-knit playsuit, a red checked frayed-knit jacket and a purple faux-leather skirt. The audition-style format presents her directly to the camera as she shifts between playful expressions and a confident performance.
“Maybe we’re not supposed to have everything figured out,” JISOO says in the film. “I always liked wandering.” The project gives JISOO a new format for her ongoing work with the brand. She became the first musician to front Self-Portrait in 2024 and had already worn the label for several years before taking on that role.
JISOO described the short films as an opportunity to try something new. Each character required a different approach, and the wardrobe helped her identify the details that separated one role from another. She and Chong worked together to find those distinctions through each character’s clothing and behavior.

“The evolution of the character’s wardrobe was how I found the nuance in each performance,” JISOO explained, describing the process as a collaboration with Chong. She added that wearing Self-Portrait has long given her a sense of possibility, while this project allowed her to imagine becoming entirely different characters.
Chong developed the concept around JISOO’s range as a performer and the relationship that Self-Portrait has built with her over the past few years. He described her as an important part of the brand and pointed to her ability to shift between different personas as a key reason for approaching the campaign through short films.
Each episode introduces a different version of JISOO, with clothing helping define each character. Portraits of a Screen Star uses four fictional roles to explore her range as a performer while developing Self-Portrait’s latest collaboration with the BLACKPINK star through fashion and film.
