A lack of sleep can result in you developing bags under your eyes, puffiness can also be the result of allergic reactions. In fact, there are a variety of reasons why your face may look swollen in the morning.

For many people, the reaction is to use eye cream. After all, that’s what it says its good at!

However, eye cream doesn’t need to be your best friend. Some say it’s a waste of money. Instead, try the following 5 tips to reduce swelling in your face.

  1. Sleep

The key to looking great and reducing swelling is to get enough sleep, they don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing! You should be aiming for between 7-9 hours of sleep a night. This allows your body to recover from the day’s activities and will keep your skin looking fresh, while you feel much better to.

Just remember not to sleep face down on your pillow. If you do gravity will ensure you wake up looking puffy!

  1. Hydrate

Your body is 60% water, it’s essential for the flow of nutrients into cells and waste out. It’s also critical to the development of collagen in your skin. That’s the substance that makes your skin elastic and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Drinking enough water is critical to ensuring you don’t wake up looking swollen and puffy.

  1. Consider What You’re Putting On Your Face

Most eye creams are effectively the same as moisturizers, just marketed differently. It illustrates perfectly why you need to be aware of what you’re putting on your face.

In fact, you should be looking at every product you put on your face. The more natural it is the less likely it is that you’ll suffer a mild allergic reaction and get a swollen face. You may not consider that you’re reacting your face lotions as it’s a slight swelling and it disappears throughout the day.

However, this illustrates perfectly the results of a mild allergic reaction. If you’re suffering from a swollen face it’s time to try a natural product. This Alya skin range is completely natural and very effective.

  1. Avoid Make-Up At Night

It’s a good idea to remove all your make-up before you go to bed. Leaving your make-up on means your pores will become clogged. This will increase the likelihood of spots and prevent your skin from breathing properly. When this happens you’re more likely to develop bad skin and puffiness around your eyes or even an entirely swollen face.

Keep some wipes in your bag to ensure you can always cleanse your face, no matter where you are. It will help you to wake up looking Hollywood fresh.

  1. Limit Salty Foods

Salty and processed foods before bed will increase your body‘s ability to retain water. This is not the same as staying hydrated. Water retention means your cells are holding onto water and will swell. This is happening all over your body but is particularly noticeable in your face.

Reducing salty foods all the time will help but be particularly careful before you go to bed.

Final Thought

Stopping to take a look at your current regime and changing a few small details can make a huge difference in how your face looks in the morning. Add in natural creams, such as the one mentioned earlier, and you won’t just eliminate your morning swollen face. You’ll be positively glowing.
