Adidas and designer Yohji Yamamoto are back with Y-3’s Spring/Summer 2024 Chapter 1 collection. This season, they go into the concept of “Contra-Natural,” a world where the organic clashes with the synthetic, resulting in unexpected beauty like distorted floral graphic, created from scans of real flowers, that are adorning several pieces.

Y-3’s Spring/Summer 2024 Chapter 1 introduces a color palette that features the brand’s signature shades, including Y-3 Black, Solid Gray, and White, with an addition of Clay Brown, Mesa, Shadow Red, and Mint. These colors resemble the process of oxidation, where nature gradually reclaims metal, transforming rusty burgundy into a vivid acidic mint. The collection extends beyond apparel to accessories, including soft leather tote bags, wallets, and card holders, all showcasing the same distorted floral graphic. Footwear also appears, as Chapter 1 introduces new silhouettes like the Y-3 STAN SMITH, Y-3 COUNTRY, and Y-3 GSG9 LOW. The Y-3 GENDO, a progressive silhouette, returns alongside the Y-3 KYASU in both low and high-top versions, and the debut of the Y-3 KYASU SLIP-ON, featuring a minimal brick-like outsole and a stitched-on primeknit upper.

To complement the launch of this collection, the campaign captures strength and community through the lens of London’s Bugeisha Club. This international collective, composed of women and non-binary individuals with mixed Asian heritage, blends creative energy with athletic prowess. The campaign, is done by photographer Erika Kamano, director Francis Plummer, and stylist Robbie Spencer. Four prominent figures from the Bugeisha Club – Mana Kimura–Anderson, Becky Tun Pe, April Gunawardena, and Lara Swift – are all in the Y-3 Spring/Summer 2024 Chapter 1 collection, with the campaign focusing on the synergy of body, mind, spirit, and community, spotlighting the tension between fluid movement and disciplined dedication.

Hmmmm y-3 needs a wake up call sorry 😔
