The announcement introduced a new class of Red Raider athletes joining the initiative that began last year with the launch of adidas’ partnership with Texas Tech. The Team Mahomes NIL program aims to empower student-athletes on and off the field through mentorship, exposure, and performance-driven support. The 2025–26 class includes returning members NiJaree Canady (Softball) and Sam Courtwright (Soccer), alongside Behren Morton (Football), Christian Anderson (Men’s Basketball), and Malachi Snow (Track). Each athlete met Mahomes earlier in the day and will be honored during the game.

For Mahomes, this initiative is a full-circle moment that ties personal legacy to the next generation of players. “Texas Tech will always be home for me, so I’m proud to give back to the school and community who helped shape me on and off the field,” said Mahomes. “As the partnership with adidas continues to evolve and expand, we’re redefining not just the future of Red Raider sports, but college athletics more widely.”
adidas has deepened its collaboration with Mahomes, using his influence and design vision to redefine how athlete-brand partnerships function at the collegiate level. “Team Mahomes is the result of a unique partnership between adidas and Patrick Mahomes that’s elevating Texas Tech athletics, shaping the future of college sports, and building on a lasting legacy for Mahomes in Lubbock and beyond,” said Chris McGuire, Vice President of Sports Marketing, adidas North America.

Adding to the energy of the announcement, Texas Tech unveiled its “Too Cold” uniforms, a follow-up to Mahomes’ first Gladiator design. The sleek, monochrome look features his logo on-field, a rare moment where an athlete’s personal brand integrates into official team apparel. The uniforms debuted during the team’s stripe-out in The Jones and are available now for fans at adidas.com.
For Kirby Hocutt, Texas Tech’s Athletics Director, Mahomes’ involvement continues to define a new standard for alumni engagement. “Patrick Mahomes’ impact on Texas Tech has been immeasurable. His ongoing investment in our athletes, notably through Team Mahomes, showcases his and adidas’ belief in and commitment to the future of Texas Tech athletics,” he said.

From NIL innovation to athlete-designed uniforms, the partnership between adidas and Mahomes is reshaping the relationship between collegiate programs and professional sports culture, cementing Lubbock as a home base for Mahomes’ growing legacy.
