Netflix has confirmed that Lupin Part 4 will premiere on October 23, bringing Omar Sy back as Assane Diop. Production on the new episodes began in May, continuing the story of the gentleman thief whose schemes have attracted viewers in France and across international markets.

Sy returns to the lead role after three parts shaped by elaborate thefts, family conflicts and carefully planned escapes. The actor continues to find pleasure in playing Assane and exploring the possibilities within the series. “I often say that Lupin is an extraordinary plaything,” Sy told Netflix. “I find great joy in it every time.”
Part 3 pushed Assane through several major events before placing him in prison. He stole the Black Pearl, gained the support of the French public and staged his own death. He also saved the life of his estranged mother while trying to protect the people closest to him.
Assane eventually concluded that his wife, son, mother and best friend could only live safely if he removed himself from their lives. He surrendered to the police and accepted responsibility for his actions. The final episode left him behind bars with a complete collection of Arsène Lupin books inside his cell.
Part 4 will pick up after that arrest, although Netflix has not revealed how long Assane will remain imprisoned or what circumstances will draw him back into action. His history of escapes, disguises and intricate plans suggests that prison may become another problem for him to solve.
The series takes inspiration from Arsène Lupin, the fictional gentleman thief created by French writer Maurice Leblanc. It places those literary references within a contemporary story centered on Assane, who uses intelligence, deception and performance to outmaneuver his opponents.

Paris continues to play an important role in the series, providing locations for its robberies, pursuits and personal conflicts. The plot regularly shifts between Assane’s criminal plans and his efforts to protect his family, creating tension between his public reputation and private responsibilities.
Lupin has become one of Netflix’s most successful non-English-language productions. Its first three parts currently occupy third, sixth and tenth place in the platform’s historical rankings for non-English series.
Gaumont produces the series in collaboration with Carrousel Studios. The teams behind the production have spent additional time developing Part 4 and raising their ambitions for the new episodes. They aim to introduce further surprises while preserving the sense of enjoyment that has guided the series from its beginning.
George Kay created Lupin in collaboration with François Uzan. Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer and Tigran Rosine also contribute to the series. Omar Sy and Louis Leterrier serve as showrunners for the new chapter.
The October premiere will return Assane to Netflix three years after Part 3 left him in custody. The new episodes will reveal how he responds to imprisonment and whether he can protect his family while facing the consequences of his final decision.
