Maserati: The Brothers Reveals First Teaser With Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins

The first teaser for Maserati: The Brothers has arrived, offering an early look at the upcoming biographical drama about the family behind one of Italy’s most recognizable automotive names. Directed by Bobby Moresco, the film brings together a cast led by Michele Morrone, Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Alba, Andy Garcia, Salvatore Esposito and Lorenzo de Moor.

Rather than approaching Maserati solely through the cars, the film centers on the relationships, ambitions and pressures surrounding the family as they build the company and establish themselves in motorsport. Maserati’s documented history begins in Bologna in 1914, when Alfieri Maserati, together with brothers Ettore and Ernesto, founded Ditta Alfieri Maserati. Their brother Mario later created the Trident emblem, while Bindo joined the business in 1932.

Morrone takes the role of Alfieri Maserati, while Salvatore Esposito and Lorenzo de Moor portray Bindo and Carlo Maserati respectively. The wider cast also includes actors playing Ettore and Ernesto, allowing the film to expand beyond a simplified account of the company’s origins. Pacino appears as Vincenzo Vaccaro, Hopkins as Luca Antonelli, Garcia as Mr. Rossini, and Alba as Sandra.

The teaser places racing at the center of the story, with period cars, workshops and early competition forming much of its visual language. Production took place across Italy, including Bologna, Modena and Rome’s Cinecittà Studios, while dozens of historic Maserati models from the 1920s and 1930s were reconstructed for filming.

Among the historical events tied to the story are Maserati’s landmark victories at the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940. Driver Wilbur Shaw won both races in the Maserati 8CTF, making Maserati the only Italian manufacturer to achieve consecutive victories at Indianapolis. The 8CTF itself was developed by Ernesto Maserati in 1938 and became one of the company’s defining competition cars.

Those successes followed an earlier milestone in 1926, when the Tipo 26 became the first car to carry the Maserati Trident and won its class at the Targa Florio with Alfieri Maserati behind the wheel.

Moresco, who won an Academy Award for co-writing Crash, directs from a screenplay credited to Amanda Moresco and Stefano Torrisi. Andrea Iervolino produces the film, which remains listed for a 2026 theatrical release. Magenta Light Studios holds US distribution rights, while Italian distributor Notorious Pictures currently lists the film as coming soon.

With its first footage now public, Maserati: The Brothers positions the company’s history as a family drama shaped by engineering, competition and ambition, using the origins of the Trident to revisit a formative period in Italian motorsport.
