Interview: Storm Pablo and Marvin Douglas on Hotel Moynat

Heirlooms, Hardware and Hotel Moynat

For more than a century and a half, the Parisian trunk maker Moynat has built objects meant to outlast the trips they were made for. Its archival trunks come back from decades of crossings covered in scuffs, repairs and hotel stickers, each label a small record of where the luggage went and who carried it. With Hotel Moynat, the House turns those traces into a collection, and it hands the archive to two people who have spent their careers working just out of frame: Los Angeles-based stylist Storm Pablo and fine jewelry designer Marvin Douglas.

The collaboration, unveiled on 14 October 2026 in Paris and Los Angeles, fits Moynat‘s recent habit of giving a platform to the creative voices behind contemporary culture rather than the faces in front of it. It is a deliberate choice. Both Pablo and Douglas are best known for building the image of one of the most visible artists in the world, Bad Bunny, while staying largely out of view themselves.

Two Careers Built Behind the Scenes

Storm Pablo has become one of the more unorthodox forces in fashion styling. His work with Bad Bunny has helped change how Latin culture is represented on the global stage, mixing heritage references with avant-garde silhouettes and a clear taste for breaking rules. For Pablo, clothing is a way to shift narratives, and individuality and cultural pride sit at the center of everything he puts together.

“Something once designed purely for utility could evolve into something decorative and expressive.” – Marvin Douglas

Marvin Douglas comes to the project from fine jewelry. The American designer founded Marvin Douglas Jewelry after time at Tiffany & Co. and Dover Street Market, and his pieces explore Latin heritage, personal identity and contemporary culture through traditional techniques. A finalist for the CFDA × Tiffany & Co. Jewelry Design Award, he recently presented vintage and custom work in a curated exhibition at Dover Street Market Los Angeles. He has also designed and styled custom pieces for Bad Bunny across his last six world tours, turning private stories into objects that millions of people now recognize.

The Hotel Sticker, Reconsidered

The first chapter of the limited-edition collection, in Moynat boutiques worldwide since 15 October, starts with the hotel sticker – Second chapter is slated for November drop. Reimagined exclusively for the collaboration, the labels are printed on leather and individually stitched onto the House’s Monogram ‘M’ canvas. Some refer to real places, including Guam and El Salvador, where the duo come from, and cities the pair have passed through repeatedly on tour, such as Puerto Rico, Colombia and Costa Rica. Others are invented, destinations that exist only inside the world Moynat built around the collection.

“It’s rare that small places like this get to have light shedded on them in the fashion world.” – Storm Pablo

The stickers appear across a full lineup of the House’s bags and travel goods: the classic Hobo, totes, the 48h duffle, the pochette nomade, a passport holder and charms, along with silk scarves, a new travel Mignon and exclusive Limousine trunks. The Limousine, with its curved base, is the piece that ties the project most directly to the archive. Both designers point to it as the starting point and as a personal favorite.

From Protective Hardware to Crystal Studs

A second chapter follows in November 2026 in selected boutiques, and it is where Douglas‘s jewelry background shows most clearly. Taking the protective hardware of vintage trunks as a reference, the duo have set crystal studs across the signature Monogram ‘M’ canvas. Hardware that once existed to protect a trunk becomes decoration. The first chapter is about memory and the places we carry with us. The second is about shine.

Behind both chapters is a shared idea about value over time. A trunk, like a piece of fine jewelry, gains meaning as it ages, picks up stories and eventually gets passed on. It is a fitting premise for a House whose archive is full of pieces that have already lived several lives, and for anyone who thinks of travel as something you collect as much as something you do.

“It’s not just what it is, but what it comes to represent over time.” – Marvin Douglas

In this exclusive interview with DSCENE Editor in Chief Zarko Davinic, Storm Pablo and Marvin Douglas talk about how they chose which travel memories to keep, why the Limousine trunk brings the collaboration full circle, how scarves and charms change the way the collection reads on a person, and what they learned working inside a heritage maison that still makes room for new voices.

The hotel stickers are printed on leather and stitched by hand onto the Monogram canvas. Which sticker designs did you pick to represent the House’s history, and how did you decide which travel memories were worth keeping? – [Storm] A big must for us was to pick the two places that Marvin and I come from, Guam and El Salvador. It was important that we were able to highlight the places we come from, it’s rare that small places like this get to have light shedded on them in the fashion world. We tried to select places that we’ve traveled frequently to on tour like Puerto Rico, Colombia, Costa Rica. Some of the places highlighted are imagined just for the collection. Moynat did an amazing job at creating a world around the collection.

You’ve described the collection to celebrate the people behind the scenes. Moynat’s trunks have survived many eras. Which detail in the archive did you find most personal, and how did it shape the jewelry thinking behind the crystal studs in the upcoming second drop of the collection? – [Marvin] What stood out to me was the hardware on Moynat’s vintage trunks. These details were originally created for protection and functionality, but over time they became part of the trunk’s identity. As a jewelry designer, I naturally gravitate toward those smaller details and the craftsmanship behind them. That became the inspiration for the second chapter. We took something that was originally functional and reinterpreted it through a jewelry perspective, replacing that idea of protective hardware with colorful crystal studs. I loved the idea that something once designed purely for utility could evolve into something decorative and expressive while still honoring its original purpose.

The first chapter includes the Limousine trunks and a new travel Mignon. Did you have a favorite piece in the range, and how did you approach designing for a silhouette that’s as much about carrying than wearing? – [Marvin] The Limousine trunks really bring the collaboration full circle. Seeing the original trunks in Moynat’s archives was one of the starting points for the entire collection, so being able to reinterpret that history through our own perspective felt special. When it came to designing the bags, we approached them the same way we approach styling. Proportion, balance, and functionality were all important. We wanted pieces that felt equally natural in an airport, on the street, or as part of a complete look. Something that could complement someone’s personal style rather than dictate it.

[Storm] The Limousine trunks are my favorite in the collection along with the Large navy tote. I’ve always been obsessed with trunks, so it was a dream to design our own with Moynat. I love the shape of the limousine because it doesn’t get in the way of your legs when you walk with it because of the bend. I love things that look nice but also are functional.

“I love things that look nice but also are functional.” – Storm

When your styling starts with accessories. How did you think about the silk scarves and charms in relation to the bags, and did they change how the full collection reads on a person? – [Storm] The scarves were a must for us. It’s something that Marvin and i always carry with us from city to city. We are always borrowing each other’s accessories so we thought it would be good to create items that we style with frequently. The charms were great because we wanted people to have a chance to resonate with the collection by representing where they come from. I think these two accessories were great because people could really play with how to style the scarves and represent where they come from with the charms.

Your jewelry to me looks like it is designed to become heirlooms. Does that idea carry over into a trunk or leather piece, and what would you want someone to pass down from this collection? – [Marvin] Absolutely. One of the things I love most about jewelry is its ability to carry memories from one generation to the next. Often, the sentimental value of a piece becomes far greater than its material value. I think the same can be said about a beautifully made bag. What I admire about Moynat is that so many of its pieces have already lived several lifetimes. They’ve traveled with people, witnessed different eras, and become part of someone’s personal history. I’d love for someone to buy a piece from this collection, travel the world with it, and eventually pass it down with all the stories and memories attached to it. To me, that’s what makes an object truly valuable. It’s not just what it is, but what it comes to represent over time.

Moynat’s release notes that you’re championing creative voices from behind the scenes. How did you find the House’s team as collaborators, and what did you learn from working with a heritage maison that you didn’t expect? – [Storm] Working with Moynat was such a special project because I was able to learn about the craftsmanship and detail that goes into every piece. As a stylist and a brand owner myself it made me want to pay attention to every little detail when it came to working on my own stuff. I also loved working with the Moynat team and that you dont need a big team to make special things happen. You just need like-minded people who really care and have passion for what they do.

[Marvin] What I appreciated most was the level of care and attention that goes into every detail. Coming from fine jewelry, craftsmanship is something I value deeply, so it was inspiring to work with people who share that same respect for their craft. What made the collaboration especially meaningful was that Moynat gave us the opportunity to bring our own perspective into a house with such a rich history. There’s something special about a heritage maison being open to new voices and ideas while maintaining the standards that have defined it for generations.

The first chapter landed in boutiques on October 15 and the second in November. How do you want people to experience the two chapters differently, and is there a way you’d like the collection to be worn together? –  [Storm] I think that both collections are equally amazing. The first chapter is full of items that you can wear every day. I feel like these pieces will only look better in time as they age, just like the rest of the bags in the Moynat archive. As for the second collection i feel it’s full of statements pieces that harmonize well with everything else in the collection. Adding stones to the bags really gives everything a shine that will make you look twice walking though the airport.

[Marvin] I see the two chapters as different expressions of the same idea. The first chapter is really about storytelling, nostalgia, and the places we carry with us. It’s colorful and playful, and it celebrates the memories we collect through travel. The second chapter is a little more connected to my world of jewelry. It’s about taking those historical details from Moynat’s trunks and reimagining them in a more decorative way through the crystal studs. I love that they can stand on their own, but they also complement each other. Ultimately, we wanted people to feel comfortable making the pieces their own, whether that means wearing individually or mixing everything together.
