Burberry Partners with Vestiaire Collective for Sustainable Fashion Initiative

Embracing circular fashion, Burberry collaborates with Vestiaire Collective to promote resale of pre-loved luxury items.

In a strategic alliance championing sustainable luxury, Burberry has announced its collaboration with the world-renowned resale platform, Vestiaire Collective. This partnership aims to offer customers a sustainable method to trade in their cherished Burberry items, ensuring they remain in circulation and are appreciated for an extended period.

Starting today, Burberry fans in the UK and US can trade their pre-loved women’s outerwear and handbags via the Burberry x Vestiaire Collective platform. In return, they will receive a Burberry gift card. After proposing a price for the submitted item and gaining customer approval, Vestiaire Collective will oversee a meticulous authentication and quality check procedure. Post this, the customer will be rewarded with a Burberry gift card.

Globally, fashion enthusiasts will have the opportunity to purchase these traded-in Burberry items, expanding access to pre-loved Burberry collections on Vestiaire Collective.

Deepening this collaboration, Burberry has generously donated a range of women’s Heritage Trench Coats to Vestiaire Collective. The proceeds from these sales will go to the UK-centric charity, Smart Works. This organization has been on Burberry’s philanthropic radar since 2013, offering top-tier interview attire and training to women in financial straits, aiding them as they aspire to join the workforce.

Burberry, for over 165 years, has been synonymous with enduring luxury apparel, bags, and accessories. This latest partnership is anchored in the ReBurberry initiative, aimed at realizing circular actions for its clientele. It resonates with Burberry’s vision of prolonging product life—a philosophy Vestiaire Collective staunchly supports and embodies.

Vestiaire Collective’s Resale as a Service programme mentors luxury brands as they venture into the world of circularity, endorsing a more accountable fashion ecosystem. Through their association with Burberry, Vestiaire Collective continues its commitment to reshaping the luxury sector for a more sustainable future.

Giorgio Belloli, Burberry’s Chief Digital, Customer, and Innovation Officer, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are very excited to team up with Vestiaire Collective to provide another way for our customers to give new life to their Burberry pieces. In building on our existing circular initiatives, including our aftercare services through our ReBurberry programme, we hope that these pieces can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.”
