Nike and LEGO: A Creative Alliance for Play and Sport

Nike and the LEGO Group have announced a multi-year partnership aimed at inspiring the next generation through the fusion of sport and creative play. This alliance wants to bring together Nike’s “Just Do It” mantra and the boundless imaginative power of LEGO bricks. The partnership underscores the shared vision of both brands to inspire, engage, and empower children around the world, encouraging them to embrace creativity, physical activity, and play.

Starting next year, families globally can anticipate a series of co-branded products, immersive content, and interactive experiences. These offerings will bring together the worlds of LEGO and Nike, inviting kids to explore their creativity while staying active. The collaboration aims to make play more accessible and enjoyable, fostering environments where kids can develop essential life skills. By combining physical movement with imaginative building, Nike and LEGO hope to shape a future where children are healthier, happier, and more creatively engaged.

The partnership is driven by a profound understanding of the importance of play in a child’s development. Both companies recognize that creative and physical activities are not merely pastimes but essential components for nurturing key life skills. Research underscores this belief: a recent LEGO Group study found that many children have limited playtime, while statistics from the World Health Organization reveal that only a fraction of kids receive the necessary physical activity. By joining forces, Nike and LEGO aim to address these gaps, ensuring that play and sport become integral parts of children’s daily lives.

At the heart of this collaboration is a commitment to inclusivity. Nike has long focused on breaking down barriers that prevent youth, particularly girls, from engaging in sports. The partnership with LEGO amplifies this mission, promising to provide new and exciting opportunities for all children, regardless of their background or abilities. Through their joint initiatives, the brands will work to create a more inclusive environment where every child feels welcomed and encouraged to participate in both play and sport.

To announce their collaboration, Nike and LEGO unveiled a digital animation that reflects the spirit of their partnership. This animation features a specially created LEGO Minifigure head with the Nike Swoosh as a smile and incorporates iconic symbols from both brands, including Nike’s waffle outsole and Air technologies, alongside classic LEGO elements like bricks and Minifigures.
