KITH Tokyo and Yutaka Fujiwara‘s New Manual have joined forces to deliver a collaboration rooted in Japanese craftsmanship and vintage inspiration. The two-piece capsule, their first-ever joint venture, highlights the meticulous attention to detail and authenticity both brands are celebrated for.
This capsule collection consists of painter pants and a reimagined cowboy jacket, each piece steeped in history and personal significance. The painter pants draw directly from a 1970s vintage item cherished by KITH Tokyo’s director, Junya Matano, while the jacket reworks a classic 1930s cowboy silhouette from Fujiwara’s own archives. Together, these designs represent a perfect fusion of heritage and modern aesthetics, reflecting the creative synergy between Matano and Fujiwara.
The collaboration is not only a showcase of design but also a celebration of storytelling. As Matano shared in an Instagram post, his admiration for Fujiwara’s work began at New Manual’s very first exhibition. Inspired by the designer’s passion and craftsmanship, Matano envisioned this collaboration long before its realization, making the project a testament to shared values and mutual respect.
In the lookbook, fronted by model Masaru Kasamatsu, the collection is brought to life with understated elegance. The denim pieces exude a timeless quality while nodding to the rugged charm of vintage workwear, skillfully bridging the gap between utilitarian function and contemporary fashion.
Both brands have gone to great lengths to honor traditional Japanese craftsmanship while presenting pieces that feel relevant and wearable today. From hand-picked materials to precise detailing, the collection is a masterclass in the art of collaboration.
Available exclusively through a lottery system at KITH Tokyo on January 2, 2025, this capsule is as much a collector’s item as it is a wearable tribute to the enduring allure of denim and the rich narrative it can embody. With this debut collaboration, KITH and New Manual solidify their place in the global conversation around elevated streetwear and artisanal design.
