Art Basel Hong Kong is set to showcase its 2025 edition from March 28-30 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), promising an expansive display of contemporary art. This year, the fair will host 240 galleries from 42 countries and territories, solidifying its position as a premier platform for experiencing world-class art in Asia. More than half of these galleries originate from the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting Art Basel’s dedication to elevating the region’s artistic voices. This substantial representation emphasizes the fair’s dedication to enhancing a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse artistic landscapes across Asia and beyond.

This edition of Art Basel Hong Kong is notable for its introduction of 23 new galleries from around the world, including India, Australia, Kosovo, Guatemala, Nigeria, South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Greater China region. These newcomers are set to enrich the fair’s diversity with fresh perspectives and innovative artistic expressions, contributing to a dynamic and varied program. Additionally, the fair will feature a curated selection of works spanning various sectors: Galleries, the primary section for established galleries; Discoveries, focusing on solo projects by emerging artists; and Insights, which emphasizes curated projects from artists across Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.

A key collaboration this year is with Para Site, Hong Kong’s independent art institution, which will curate the fair’s public Film Program for the first time. This partnership is part of Art Basel’s ongoing effort to engage with and support the local art scene, reflecting its strategy to integrate more deeply with the cultural fabric of its host city. The Film Program aims to showcase works that transcend regional boundaries and echo the global reach of Art Basel.

Another highlight of the 2025 fair is the inaugural MGM Discoveries Art Prize, aimed at supporting emerging artists. This new initiative will award a significant cash prize to one artist and their representing gallery, further providing them an opportunity to exhibit in Macau. This prize not only encourages artistic innovation but also aids in the professional development of promising artists within the global art community.

Art Basel Hong Kong’s cultural impact is further augmented by a special commission. Co-commissioned by Art Basel and M+, and presented by UBS, the M+ Facade will feature “Night Charades” by Singaporean artist Ho Tzu Nyen. This installation reimagines iconic Hong Kong film scenes through animation, offering viewers a fusion of cinematic history and digital artistry, continuously re-edited by an algorithm to create a living, evolving piece.

With its global lead partner UBS, the fair is expected to draw art lovers, collectors, and professionals from around the world, providing them not only with an opportunity to view and purchase extraordinary artworks but also to engage with a broad spectrum of the international art community.
