Hublot has pushed the limits of conventional watchmaking once again with the introduction of the Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve, marking a bold new chapter in the Square Bang series. As the latest innovation to emerge from the Nyon-based Manufacture, the new release disrupts traditional circular norms by offering a square case, square movement architecture, and a level of mechanical precision engineered entirely in-house.

First introduced in 2022, the Square Bang collection stood apart as the third family in Hublot’s Big Bang line, alongside the round Big Bang and tonneau-shaped Spirit of Big Bang. The Square Bang immediately stood out for its geometry and uncompromising attitude. Now, with the debut of the Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve, Hublot takes the design even further, introducing the first model in the series to feature a 3D carbon case, a manually wound tourbillon movement, and square bridges throughout the calibre.
The MHUB6023 manual movement was developed specifically for this model and serves as the mechanical heart of the new Square Bang. The architecture of the calibre follows the same angular discipline as the case: each of the 174 components, bridges, plates, and structures, follows a right-angled blueprint. The skeletonised construction exposes a carefully layered mechanism, where every matte and satin-finished surface has been precisely arranged to emphasize the watch’s dimensionality and mechanical complexity.
According to Hublot CEO Julien Tornare, the goal was to take the square concept beyond the external case. “With the Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve, we wanted to take the exercise to its logical conclusion by designing a movement whose architecture is also fully right-angled,” he explained. “The bridges are straight, clean and sharp, as if to protect a movement that always beats to the rhythm of a perfect circle, that of the Tourbillon, barrel and power reserve.”
Each functional element of the watch finds its place along the four edges of the case: the winding mechanism sits to the right, the power reserve indicator to the left, the large barrel at the top, and the tourbillon below. The fully openworked construction enhances the sense of symmetry, with every element suspended within the square structure, offering an unprecedented view of the mechanical intricacies at work.
The case itself, made entirely of carbon, measures 42mm and showcases a new 3D carbon composite structure featuring vertical and horizontal linework. This same motif extends to the rubber strap, maintaining the visual coherence of the design. The watch’s silicon escapement enhances resilience to magnetic fields and temperature shifts, ensuring stable precision over its extended four-day power reserve, displayed via an indicator at nine o’clock.
With the launch of this model, Hublot doesn’t just add a new reference to its catalogue, it redefines how square timepieces can function and feel. The Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve sets a new precedent in the integration of design and mechanics, underscoring Hublot’s ongoing refusal to follow tradition for its own sake.
