Louis Vuitton brings its era-defining partnership with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to a close with Chapter Three of their re-edition collection, celebrating 20 years since the original collaboration reshaped luxury fashion. Launching alongside the brand’s 2025 Resort collection, this final chapter offers a spirited revival of Murakami’s most iconic motif, the smiling Cherry, summer scenes starring House Ambassador Zendaya.
CAMPAIGNS
The collection, which spans over 70 pieces, is a vivid reminder of the playful energy and artistic ingenuity that first brought the Louis Vuitton × Murakami collaboration to global attention in the early 2000s. Bags, silk squares, summer footwear, charms, and even a custom-designed bicycle are among the creations reimagined through Murakami’s technicolor vision. The artist’s candy-colored cherries, each pair featuring gleeful expressions and detailed green stalks, return as the central character in this edition, rendered through advanced serigraphy techniques and quirky new formats, including Cherry-shaped heels.

Among the standout items is the introduction of a new Monogram colorway: a white base that acts as a canvas for a 3D-printed Cherry motif, appearing on iconic silhouettes such as the Speedy, Alma, and Side Trunk. The Capucines bags go further with their detailing, adding Cherry charms on decorative chains and miniature surprises tucked into zip pulls and fasteners. Denim lovers will find a collector’s capsule embroidered with cherries, featured on the Pochette Accessoires, the Sunset, and the Keepall 45. Matching denim footwear and accessories complete the capsule’s vacation-ready aesthetic.

Footwear plays a central role in the summer-forward release. Highlights include denim Romy ballerinas, Maya platforms, and white sneakers embroidered with cherries. New designs like the Cherie and Lily bring fresh silhouettes to life with Cherry-heel embellishments. For accessories, silk scarves and bag charms continue the cherry theme, offering versatile options that bring subtle whimsy to the everyday wardrobe.

The accompanying campaign, photographed by Inez and Vinoodh, places Zendaya in a surreal coastal setting surrounded by larger-than-life Cherry figures. Her looks, featuring key items from the collection, channel a cinematic spirit that’s both nostalgic and forward-looking. With her as the face of this final chapter, the campaign ties past and present in a single visual narrative.

Set to launch globally on May 22, 2025, Louis Vuitton × Murakami Chapter Three closes the trilogy with a celebration of pop art, luxury craftsmanship, and cultural memory. The collaboration, which originally redefined the role of artists in fashion, continues to resonate across generations.
