Emily Cooper is heading to Italy. Netflix has announced that Emily in Paris Season 5 will premiere on December 18, taking the beloved heroine from her Parisian rooftop views to the ruins of Rome and even a speedboat ride through Venice. Creator Darren Star teased, “This season is a tale of two cities. Rome and Paris. Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.”

The new season sees Lily Collins return as Emily alongside Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Lucien Laviscount, Eugenio Franceschini, Thalia Besson, Paul Forman, and Arnaud Binard. New additions include Bryan Greenberg as Jake, an American in Paris; Michèle Laroque as Yvette, a friend of Sylvie’s; and Academy Award–nominated Minnie Driver as Princess Jane, a royal family insider.

Season 4 closed with Emily opening a Rome office for Agence Grateau and settling into an Italian apartment while sparking a romance with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). Season 5 will explore that relationship further, with Star hinting at “a real spark and a real romantic connection.” Still, her longtime neighbor Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) ended the previous season with an epiphany about wanting to be with her, setting up a love triangle that promises drama ahead.

The series continues to be a global hit, Season 4 debuted at No. 1 on the Netflix Global Top 10 with nearly 20 million views in just four days. Collins, who announced the new season on Good Morning America, says fans can expect a more balanced, fulfilled Emily this time: “We want Emily to be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond vacay mode.”
As Emily navigates Roman ruins, Venetian canals, and her ever-complicated Parisian entanglements, the upcoming season promises to deliver la dolce vita with a side of classic romantic tension.
