For the Defiance Issue of DSCENE Magazine, beauty takes on a louder, more expressive form. In Rush, photographer Ingmar Chen captures Johannelys Garcia of Elite in a series that leans into color, texture, and surface with full intent.

The result is a visual study in contrast and control, where each element adds to a layered, high-impact aesthetic.
Mark Edio at SEE MANAGEMENT leads the makeup direction, using MAC Cosmetics to build out a saturated palette of blues, yellows, and pinks. Shapes are exaggerated but precise, creating moments that are graphic and deliberate. Skin, prepped with Sunday Riley, maintains a soft glow that balances the intensity. With Jonathan Logan assisting, the looks evolve in bold steps rather than quiet transitions.

Nails by Pika at SEE MANAGEMENT become part of the visual architecture. Using Beetles gel polish, he creates sculptural, elongated sets with unexpected color combinations and graphic detailing. They function as accents, extending the shapes and mood established in the styling.

Yukie Yamasaki, working with Oribe, approaches hair with structure and spontaneity. There’s variation in form, some looks feel almost architectural, others more undone, but the energy stays consistent, anchoring the head-to-toe compositions.

Styling by Christian Ramirez moves confidently between volume, color, and texture, echoing the pace of the beauty. Wardrobe and accessories are deliberately bold without feeling overworked. Damien Vaughan Shippee’s prop styling complements this rhythm, building out scenes with carefully considered saturation and material play. Tyler Herson rounds out the team, assisting in shaping the final environment on set.

Rush doesn’t chase disruption, it sits comfortably in a space where bold ideas meet careful construction.
