Peter Do Launches PD-168 Modular System of Dressing

A new line designed for every hour, every place, and every person

Peter Do launched PD-168, a modular ready-to-wear system created around the rhythm of 168 hours in a week. The Vietnamese-American designer conceived the project outside the traditional seasonal cycle, structuring it as a disciplined uniform that adapts to all aspects of life – work, play, and leisure – without interruption.

PD-168 reflects Do’s own instinctive approach to dressing. “It wasn’t conceived as a brand project or seasonal collection. It was simply how I dressed, every single day. These are the pieces I reached for without thinking because they allow me to think about everything else,” he explains. This personal approach shaped a 24-piece line. Rendered entirely in black, the garments come in liquid satin, soft rib, and washed terry knits. Every piece is machine washable and easy to maintain, aligning with the designer’s focus on practicality. A single tattoo line placed on the left side of each garment acts as the collection’s unifying mark.

Do structured the collection around four guiding principles called the 4Es. “Every Hour” emphasizes clothing intended to function throughout the entire week without division between day and night. “Ever Black” establishes black as the fixed foundation, offering consistency and adaptability. “Everyone” reflects the universality of the system, rejecting divisions by gender, rank, or profession. “Everything” ensures each piece functions individually but also forms part of a modular wardrobe when combined with others. These four principles define the operational framework of PD-168.

To illustrate the system in action, Do developed three projects alongside the first release. In Saigon, Vietnam, a lookbook brought together 28 creatives from diverse fields including chefs, designers, dancers, artists, researchers, and music producers. Each subject wore PD-168 while photographed in the streets of the city, demonstrating the system’s ability to adapt to varied practices. In New York, choreographer Samuel Schler created a film featuring nine dancers performing in PD-168, showing the collection’s durability under the demands of movement. Do also partnered with Tony Wang, outfitting the Office of Applied Strategy staff with PD-168 as their daily office uniform. This integration into a workplace context affirmed the system’s potential to function in structured urban environments.

PD-168 incorporates a digital component through a collaboration with DOJI, an AI-powered platform for virtual try-ons. While DOJI operates on an invite-only basis, PD-168 customers can access the service directly using the code PD168. The integration allows shoppers to preview the garments in an interactive format, extending the uniform’s reach into a digital space.

The line is now available exclusively on PD-168.net, with prices ranging from $110 to $850 USD. Conceived as a seasonless, evergreen system, PD-168 will remain available throughout the year at fixed prices. Select new styles will be added annually, reinforcing its role as a stable, long-term framework for dressing.
