Rooted in the ancient sport of fencing, ‘DUEL’ explores the nuanced interplay between opposing forces: aggression and restraint, elegance and discipline. These dualities are translated into the collection’s visual language, where sculptural layering and architectural tailoring reference the evolution of fencing uniforms – from historic protective armor to the sleek, high-tech materials of modern competition.
The collection stands as a dialogue between softness and structure. SONGZIO’s flowing, romantic shapes are sharpened by HELIOT EMIL’s technical construction, resulting in garments that feel both protective and expressive. High-performance textiles are used throughout, echoing the innovation seen in contemporary fencing gear, while the monochromatic palette and precise cuts provide a sense of control and clarity.
‘DUEL’ easily brings a strong aesthetics; and it’s a meditation on the contrasts that define both brands. The collaboration highlights the ceremonial grace of fencing, reimagined through a modern lens. Creative direction is led by the creative directors of the brands Julius Juul from Heliot Emil and Jay Songzio from Songzio, with casting by George Raymond Stead.
