Emily in Paris will end with its sixth season, which has now begun production in Greece. The Netflix series, created by Darren Star, returns for one final chapter after five seasons that turned Emily Cooper’s life abroad into a global conversation around fashion, travel, social media, and Parisian fantasy.

Darren Star marked the start of production with a message of gratitude to the people behind the series and the audience that followed it from its 2020 debut. “Making Emily in Paris with this extraordinary cast and crew has been the trip of a lifetime,” Star said. “As we embark on the final season, I am so grateful to Netflix, Paramount, and, most importantly, the fans who have taken this incredible journey with us. We can’t wait to share this last chapter with you. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives, inspiring your dreams of travel and your love of Paris. We will always have ‘Emily in Paris!’”

Since its launch, Emily in Paris has grown into one of Netflix’s most recognizable comedy titles. Seasons 1 through 5 spent 32 weeks on the Netflix Global Top 10 list, reached number one in 90 countries, and drew more than 250 million views from the first half of 2023 through the second half of 2025. The series built its audience through a mix of romantic complications, workplace drama, travel fantasy, and highly visible styling that pushed the show far beyond episodic comedy.

The series also shaped online culture through trends, memes, fashion references, and location-driven interest. Emily’s wardrobe, professional shifts, friendships, and relationships regularly fueled conversation across social media, while the show’s Paris setting gave viewers a polished version of the city that encouraged travel interest. French President Emmanuel Macron also praised the series for increasing the city’s visibility and strengthening its pull as a destination.

Emily in Paris continues a pattern in Darren Star’s career. His earlier series helped define television visions of New York through Sex and the City and Los Angeles through Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place. With Emily in Paris, Star turned his focus toward Paris and built a contemporary comedy around ambition, reinvention, romance, and image. The show used the city as a key part of its identity, with restaurants, offices, streets, hotels, and fashion moments forming the recognizable rhythm of Emily’s life.

Darren Star titles available on Netflix, including Emily in Paris, Sex and the City, Younger, Sex and the City: The Movie, Sex and the City 2, and Uncoupled, drew 435 million total views from the first half of 2023 through the second half of 2025. Netflix has also announced Star’s next comedy series, Uncorked. The show follows a talented but self-destructive winemaker who returns to Napa for a second chance at love, legacy, and the chase for a 100-point wine.
