ASICS SportStyle has named award-winning actress Anna Sawai its newest ambassador and the face of the Sensory Bloom Collection. The partnership pairs the Japanese-New Zealand actress with a footwear range that uses tactile materials, luminous color palettes and responsive comfort to connect visual design with physical sensation.

Sawai brings a strong international profile to the campaign. Her work in television and film has earned major recognition, while her fluency in English and Japanese supports her cross-cultural career. She won the 2024 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, for her performance in Shōgun. She then received a Golden Globe Award and a SAG Award for the same performance in 2025. Critics’ Choice Award nominations have also recognized Sawai’s work.
The campaign draws on Sawai’s experience as an actor, dancer and yoga practitioner. Its hero film follows Sawai and her stunt double during a playful sequence of on-set duels. Each encounter becomes increasingly elaborate, giving the cinematic short a witty tone and energetic physical character.
Sawai uses physical comedy, athletic action and comic timing to introduce the collection’s sensory concept. The film presents her scene-stealing sense of humor while connecting her performance with the collection’s focus on texture, color and sensation.

ASICS SportStyle designed the Sensory Bloom Collection for wearers who value how footwear feels and looks. Soft forms, marbleized surfaces, luminous shades and tactile details define the range. These elements connect the shoes’ visual identity with the sensation that each pair creates underfoot.
The GEL-CUMULUS 16 leads the collection. ASICS first launched the silhouette in 2014, and the latest edition updates its familiar form through glossy overlays, translucent mesh and responsive cushioning.
Dual GEL technology inserts support impact absorption. FLYTEFOAM technology and FLUIDRIDE technology contribute soft and responsive comfort. The design retains the cushioning qualities associated with the original model while giving its exterior a new sensory treatment.

The collection also introduces the HYPERSYNC shoe, a new low-profile model for active use. ASICS drew inspiration from archival wrestling footwear and track and field shoes. The design combines the pointed structure of track spikes with the close-to-ground form of wrestling shoes.
Textured patent leather overlays give the HYPERSYNC a polished surface, while decorative stitching adds definition. Breathable mesh supports airflow, and logo detailing completes the upper. The construction keeps the shoe light and structured while maintaining a premium engineered finish.
Sawai’s appointment connects ASICS SportStyle with an actress whose career incorporates several disciplines, languages and screen genres. Sawai began life in New Zealand and grew up in Tokyo. She speaks English and Japanese fluently, bringing direct cultural knowledge to her international performances.
The Sensory Bloom Collection is available now. The release includes the updated GEL-CUMULUS 16 and the newly introduced HYPERSYNC shoe.
