LISA is set to headline a new Netflix romantic comedy inspired by Notting Hill, marking her first leading role in a feature-length rom-com. The project signals a clear expansion of her screen career following her recent acting debut and positions the global pop star at the center of a classic, star-meets-civilian love story updated for a new generation.

The film is written by Katie Silberman, known for Booksmart and Set It Up, and will be produced by David Bernad, who also served as an executive producer on The White Lotus. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the project is described as drawing inspiration from the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill, directed by Richard Curtis and starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
Given the original film’s premise, industry speculation suggests LISA will play the internationally famous figure at the heart of the romance, though Netflix has not confirmed character details. Deadline reports that LISA and Bernad bonded early over their shared admiration for the 1999 classic, which helped shape the project’s direction.

Born Lalisa Manobal, LISA is best known as a solo artist and as a member of the global K-pop group BLACKPINK. Beyond music, she has become a major figure in fashion and luxury culture, serving as a global ambassador for Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, and Nike.
Her acting profile rose significantly with her appearance in the third season of The White Lotus, which earned positive responses and opened the door to further film opportunities. She is also attached to Netflix’s action thriller TYGO, part of the AGBO-produced Extraction universe. The film pairs her with action star Ma Dong-seok and director Lee Sang-young, placing her in a radically different genre from the upcoming rom-com.
Netflix has been a recurring platform in LISA’s career. She previously appeared in the streamer’s 2025 reality series Hitmakers, and BLACKPINK’s documentary BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky premiered on the service in 2020. With this new romantic comedy, LISA’s relationship with Netflix deepens further, reinforcing her shift from music icon to cross-platform screen presence.
Production timelines and casting details have yet to be announced, but the project already positions LISA as a rare global figure moving fluidly between pop stardom, prestige television, and mainstream film.
