Berg frei ! is a concept-furniture based on a sofa-mountain landscape which changes the users perspective regarding view height and direction. More images and info under the cut:
The body’s position and awareness of it are a crucial point of interpersonal communication. With a subtle general shift of furniture height to a seat level of 82cm, a new relationship towards the surrounding space is created.
This 40 cm difference means that one can communicate on eye level regardless of sitting or standing position.The alps are the association topic for this concept, on the summit one has another view on the environment. Mountains extends the view of the surrounding area, and berg frei! transfers this experience can transferred into the existing housing structures and space-limiting surfaces. The mountains are also taken as the organization basis both formally and in choice of materials.
