Fashion house MAGLIANO presented the Spring Summer 2023 campaign captured by fashion photographer Leonardo Scotti and styled by Elisa Voto, telling the story of its upcycled line Surplus. Upcycling has always been an organic factor for Magliano, long before the use of second-hand material was given a precise name. The campaign portrays the people who work in the main factory that produces Magliano, located in Faenza, who worked on the Surplus pieces. The campaign has vibrant, bold colors, and it perfectly portrays the intrinsic uniqueness of the characters protagonist: they represent the reality and truth of the garments themselves.

The place of choice for the search for pre-owned textiles is particularly one, and it is located in Bologna. In the Parco della Montagnola and in Piazza VIII Agosto, where the cattle market was already held in 1251, every Friday and Saturday there is one of the most peculiar weekly markets in Italy, declared Historical Market of Emilia Romagna: it is the Piazzola, with more than 400 stalls where you can find everything from the most banal to the most extravagant. Here Magliano retrieves large quantities of textiles, ranging from old scarves to military fabrics and old silk shirts. And it is from these that the SS23 “Surplus” line is inspired: second hand Hawaiian shirts, flannel shirts and bandanas were handpicked by the Magliano team and handcrafted reworked to create new garments. Each piece is different from the other as it was created using pre-loved garments and dead stock fabrics, whose imperfections make them unique and special. Every pre-used piece is transformed into a Magliano product with its own new identity and to consider beautiful in it’s own distinctiveness. – from Magliano
