The FENDI Women’s SS25 Collection looks both forward and back, drawing inspiration from the iconic moments of the 1920s while celebrating the brand’s own centenary. Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, takes a reflective approach to this season, exploring modernity in style and thought, with the year 1925 serving as a focal point. It’s the founding year of FENDI, the year of the Art Deco exhibition in Paris, and also the publication of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. These milestones in fashion, art, and literature converge to inform a collection that fuses different epochs, techniques, and moods.

Bridging the worlds of ready-to-wear and couture, Jones skillfully balances the handmade with the machine-made, offering both daywear and evening attire. The collection embodies practicality and celebration, a mix of the archetypal and the iconoclastic. For Jones, the focus is always on the women who wear the clothes—women who are active participants in their lives. The pieces are designed with movement, lightness, and ease in mind, allowing the wearer to fully embrace modern life. It’s not just about style, but also about creating clothing that feels effortlessly lived-in.
This interplay between structure and unstructure is at the heart of the collection. A relaxed, nonchalant elegance runs through the designs, which are imbued with the highest level of craftsmanship. Embroideries, delicate and detailed, are applied to timeless forms like the silk slip dress and the simple tee, elevating these everyday staples into something extraordinary. Soft suedes and shearlings envelop the wearer, while suede croco appears in t-shirt silhouettes. The juxtaposition of silk tea dresses with sturdy boots, made in collaboration with Red Wing, speaks to the fusion of the practical with the luxurious.
Accessories play a crucial role in reinforcing this narrative. FENDI’s signature bags mirror the collection’s mix of ease and craftsmanship, with soft, unstructured forms that feel both luxurious and accessible. The Mamma Baguette bag, in particular, takes on a more prominent, oversized form as a tribute to Adele Fendi, the house’s founder and Silvia Venturini Fendi’s grandmother. This iconic bag, along with FENDI Filo jewelry by Delfina Delettrez Fendi, continues the house’s legacy of exceptional leatherwork and craftsmanship. The Filo, an evolution of the Selleria technique, serves as a symbol connecting FENDI’s past, present, and future.
The collection’s color palette and materials also draw from FENDI’s rich heritage. Supple Cuoio Romano leather, along with the meticulous Selleria hand stitching, are applied to Red Wing’s Classic Moc boot structure, creating a harmonious blend of masculine and feminine elements. This collaboration between two distinct worlds—luxury fashion and workwear—speaks to the versatility and timelessness of the collection. The result is a range of pieces that are practical yet refined, designed to be worn and cherished for years to come.
For Silvia Venturini Fendi, quality remains the guiding principle. “Quality is the number one point besides the beauty of design,” she explains. This commitment to craftsmanship and durability is central to FENDI’s hundred-year history. As the founder, Adele Fendi’s personal and professional obsession with quality is what built the house’s reputation, and this dedication to excellence continues to define the brand today. As FENDI marks its centenary, this collection serves as both a celebration of its past and a vision for its future, rooted in the timeless values of craftsmanship and style.
