The first official trailer for The Paper has been released ahead of the series’ premiere on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK and Ireland on 5 September. The new mockumentary comes from Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, with an ensemble cast led by Domhnall Gleeson.

The series follows the documentary crew known for filming Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in The Office (US) as they move on to a fresh subject. This time, they focus their lenses on a historic Midwestern newspaper and its publisher, who is working to bring it back to life. Through the mockumentary format, the show explores the newsroom’s daily operations, its staff, and the challenges of reviving a traditional publication in a modern media climate.
Sky confirmed that The Office (US) will remain available to Sky and NOW customers alongside the arrival of The Paper. This connection gives fans of the Emmy Award-winning series a chance to see the fictional documentary crew take on an entirely different workplace setting, while still enjoying the original show on the platform.
The cast includes Domhnall Gleeson, known for roles in The Patient and Ex Machina, alongside Sabrina Impacciatore from The White Lotus. Chelsea Frei of The Moodys joins the ensemble, along with Melvin Gregg, whose credits include Nine Perfect Strangers. Gbemisola Ikumelo, recognised for Brain In Gear, appears in the series, as does comedian and writer Alex Edelman from Teenage Bounty Hunters. Ramona Young (Man Seeking Woman), Tim Key (The Ballad of Wallis Island), and The Office (US) alum Oscar Nuñez round out the principal cast.
Greg Daniels, the creator of The Office (US), serves as creator, writer, and executive producer of The Paper under his Deedle-Dee Productions banner. Michael Koman, known for Nathan for You, also serves as creator, writer, and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who co-created the original UK version of The Office. Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille) are also credited as executive producers. The series comes from Universal Television.
With its connection to The Office (US) and its cast of established comedy talent, The Paper positions itself as a major addition to Sky’s comedy lineup this autumn.
