Building on previous successful collaborations, the Nike brand continues the tradition with another sneaker release with renowned musician Travis Scott. The American rapper has become one of the most powerful sneaker collaborators, attracting a massive amount of attention. Alongside his Astroworld Festival this November, Scott is preparing the new Air Max 1 model, which will likely make their debut this holiday season.

SNEAKERS

Staying true to rapper’s love for earth tones and a worn-in look, the Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Baroque Brown’ incorporates some of the similar design elements of the previous models, such as premium nubuck and Cactus Jack branding, as well as the reversed Swoosh on the side and red waxed laces.

FEATURES:

The Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Baroque Brown’ features a cream mesh upper paired with brown overlays along with the Travis’ signature reverse Swoosh on the side. Other details include a new “Cactus Jack” logo appearing on the tongues and heels.

The iconic runner gets a rugged outdoor-inspired makeover in the Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Baroque Brown.’ Red hiker-style laces tie over a cream-colored mesh upper with dark tan leather overlays and a brown nubuck mudguard. The rapper’s signature reverse Swoosh is on the lateral quarter panel in a Lemon Drop finish with multicolor woven straps that are integrated into the laces and heel overlay. The latter consists of a crimson triangular patch accompanied with Cactus Jack branding on the right shoe and the signature Nike logo is on the left. It’s built on a two-tone foam midsole that’s fitted with Air-sole cushioning in the heel and supported by a waffle-traction rubber outsole. – from Fight Club.

NIKE AIR MAX 1 HISTORY:

The Air Max 1 model was initially released in 1987, designed by the legendary sneakers designer Tinker Hatfield. Through the years the debut Air Max 1 captured the hearts of many. “It was widely discussed that I had pushed it too far. People were trying to get us fired.” – Hatfield describes the reaction to early Air Max sketches in the Netflix documentary series Abstract: The Art of Design.

Starting off as an architect, Hatfield applied his structural and construction knowledge into some of the most popular sneaker designs. For this particular model, Hatfield was inspired by his travel to Paris, especially the Georges Pompidou Center. “It really inspired me because it changed the world of architecture, urban design. It really changed the way people looked at the buildings. – says Tinker Hatfield in Respect The Architects.
