Hiroshi Fujiwara has revealed a first look at the fragment design x Nike Mind 001 through his personal Instagram. The appearance of the shoe immediately situates it within fragment design’s visual language, applying the familiar Black and Royal Blue color code to Nike’s experimental mule silhouette.

SHOES

The Mind 001 arrives as a slip-on mule that prioritizes concept as much as form. Nike positions the model within what it describes as “mind-altering science,” framing the shoe as an object designed to influence sensory perception. At the center of this idea sits an oversized, deeply ridged outsole. Nike engineers the sole to interact with the body through contact and pressure, with the stated aim of stimulating sensory areas of the brain during movement.

This emphasis on the sole gives the Mind 001 a distinctive profile. The exaggerated base immediately separates it from conventional slip-ons, turning the mule into a sculptural object defined by mass and rhythm. The ridges run with intention, reinforcing the idea that the shoe operates through physical interaction with the ground.

Nike constructs it from a combination of black rubber and nylon-neoprene, creating a surface that appears sealed and uniform. The materials deliver a weather-resistant finish while maintaining a clean visual line. Royal Blue details surface on the insoles and at the heel through the familiar fragment bubble logo. These elements carry decades of association without overwhelming the design. Fujiwara uses color sparingly, letting it operate as a signal.

One of the most direct design cues appears as industrial-style text printed along the lateral side. The string reads “FRAGMENT CONCEPT TESTING MIND 001 SP26 – MNSPIN – 832.” This technical language reinforces the idea of experimentation and process. The reference to SP26 strongly suggests a Spring 2026 release.

This first look positions the fragment design x Nike Mind 001 as a continuation of Fujiwara’s influence on modern footwear. The mule format, sensory outsole, restrained palette, and technical markings align into an object that prioritizes experience.
