Ashi Studio presents its Spring Summer 2026 Couture collection, titled The Beginnings, as a meditation on desire, loss, and transformation. The house approaches couture through instinct and fluid craft, engaging forms that resist fixed definition. This season explores a threshold state, one that exists before resolution, where emotion sharpens and form begins to fracture.
COUTURE COLLECTIONS
The collection opens within a suspended moment before dawn, when boundaries between bodies, memory, and longing begin to dissolve. Ashi Studio frames this space through a central female figure who carries intimacy close to the body. She holds a locket of hair against her skin. She stitches letters in an invented language addressed to an absent or ever-present other. These gestures define the emotional register of the collection and guide its visual language. Garments trace the tension between preservation and decay, presence and haunting, attachment and erosion.

Victorian mourning rituals provide the collection’s primary vocabulary. Hair appears braided into corseted gowns, extending down the back in forms that recall a spine. Keys and death moths enter the fabrication as recurring symbols. Eighteenth-century corsetry techniques undergo burning and distressing, producing surfaces that speak in a contemporary language while retaining their historical construction logic. Ashi Studio uses these methods to examine how the body carries memory through structure and surface.
Trompe l’oeil painting plays a central role in shaping illusion and transformation. Painted satin lies over skeletal frameworks, creating the impression of bodies caught mid-metamorphosis. Draped forms suggest transition rather than completion. Latex interacts with painted surfaces. Sequins endure deliberate exposure to flame. Embroidered scripts appear in alphabets that resist translation. These processes render couture as a medium capable of holding ambiguity.

The palette remains elemental. Dust, rust, and reduced beige tones dominate the collection, evoking objects altered by time yet resistant to disappearance. Color represents material memory, reinforcing the collection’s focus on remnants, traces, and emotional residue.
Through The Beginnings, Ashi Studio articulates a gothic intimacy rooted in closeness and collapse. The collection treats longing and abandonment as inseparable forces that arrive together. Desire consumes and yields simultaneously, allowing two forms to converge until distinction dissolves.
