Nike expands its neuroscience-informed footwear program with the Nike Mind 001 “Team Red,” a slip-on mule that continues the brand’s exploration of post-performance design. The model builds on a concept shaped by sensory response, presenting a minimal form that focuses on how the foot engages with the shoe.

SHOES

The silhouette relies on a sculpted foam construction that wraps around the foot in a continuous form. The design prioritizes a close fit, supported by a padded collar that secures the foot without interrupting the overall shape. Nike positions this model within a broader investigation into how footwear can influence physical and mental response through material and structure.

The upper appears in rich red tones, combining burgundy and brighter red hues across a one-piece build. Subtle shifts in color create a gradient effect that moves toward darker shades near the midsole. Stacked vertical columns along the side panels introduce a sense of structure, while maintaining the streamlined profile of the mule.

Perforations across the vamp allow airflow across the top of the foot, while additional venting appears along the medial side. These openings support comfort during wear, aligning with the model’s focus on physical response. The placement of these elements follows a functional logic, ensuring that airflow integrates directly into the construction.

Inside the shoe, the footbed introduces circular pressure nodes positioned to stimulate the sole. These nodes replace the classic orange elements from earlier releases with midnight navy versions that match the darker tones of the outsole. The outsole follows the same tonal direction with dark navy traction pods that support stability. Red tones on the upper meet navy elements below, creating a clear and controlled contrast.

A chrome Swoosh appears on the lateral side, introducing a reflective detail that stands apart from the matte foam surface. Additional branding appears on the insole, where “Nike Mind” and “Mind Science Department” text mark the conceptual framework behind the model.

Nike schedules the release of the Nike Mind 001 “Team Red” for April 2. The model will be available through Nike, following strong demand for earlier colorways that sold out quickly upon launch.
